Automation Rule Actions Reference

Automation rules run on every order that imports into ShipHero. Each rule pairs a trigger, which is the condition ShipHero checks on the order, with an action, which is the change ShipHero makes when that condition is true. This page lists all 63 actions you can build an automation rule on, the value each one takes, and the article that documents it.

ShipHero has 63 automation rule actions, grouped below by the article that documents them. Every action works with any trigger.

How Automation Rule Action Values Work

Each action asks for a value when you add it to a rule. The Action Values column in each table below shows what ShipHero asks for. Several actions share the same kinds of value.

Value type What you do
On/Off Turn the setting on or off.
Select Choose from the list ShipHero shows, such as a carrier, shipping method, warehouse, box, profile, vendor, or workflow.
Enter or type Type the text, SKU, number, or weight the action needs.
Numeric values only Enter a number.
N/A The action takes no value.

Order Hold Automation Rule Actions

Place or clear holds on an order, or hold it until a set date and time. For each action's description, values, and worked examples, see How to Manage Order Holds with Automation Rules.

Set Hold Until Date and Time Select a date, then enter a time as HH:MM (14:30) or HH:MMam/pm (02:30pm).

International Order Automation Rule Actions

Set the currency, tax details, incoterms, and Sold To address on international orders. For each action's description, values, and worked examples, see How to Use Automation Rules for International Orders.

Apply Discount to Customs Value On/Off
Set Currency 3-letter ISO currency code, for example USD, EUR, or GBP.
Set FTR Exemption Select a code from the supported FTR codes.
Set Order Incoterms Select DDU or DDP.
Set Order Tax Type and Id VAT, IOSS, EORI, RFC, CPF/CNPJ, or Resident ID Number. The ID is free-form text.
Set Sold To Address Enter name, email, phone, address, city, state, postal code, country, tax number, and tax type.

Shipping and Label Settings Automation Rule Actions

Products on an Order Automation Rule Actions

Add a SKU Enter a SKU.
Add X units of a SKU Enter a SKU and a quantity.
Add X units of a sku for every Y units ordered Enter a SKU, the quantity to add, and the quantity ordered.
Cancel Items N/A
Cancel the entire order but don't cancel on the platform N/A
Change SKU Enter the replacement SKU.
Delete all instances of a sku Enter a SKU.
Delete one unit of a sku Enter a SKU.
Remove X units of a sku for every Y units ordered Enter a SKU, the quantity to remove, and the quantity ordered.
Set Wildcard replacement SKU Enter a SKU, or a template such as darth_{original_sku}.

Notes and Notifications Automation Rule Actions

Return Settings Automation Rule Actions
