The Automation Rules page in ShipHero lets you search your rules and act on several of them at once instead of opening each rule. Use search to find a rule by name, trigger, or action, and use the Bulk Manage panel to activate, deactivate, delete, or duplicate the rules you select.
Before You Begin
- Where to manage rules: Search and bulk actions are on the Orders > Automation Rules page.
- Reordering while searching: You can't drag and drop rules to reorder them while a search is active, because the filtered list isn't your full rule order. Clear the search to reorder your rules.
For how rules run and why rule order matters, see How to Use Automation Rules in ShipHero. Note for 3PLs: To copy rules into other client accounts, see How to Duplicate Automation Rules Between 3PL Clients in ShipHero.

How to Search Automation Rules in ShipHero
The search field on the Automation Rules page narrows your rule list by rule name, trigger, or action. Enter a rule name, trigger, or action in the search field to filter the list. When no rules match, ShipHero shows an empty state instead of a blank table.
How to Bulk Manage Automation Rules in ShipHero
The Bulk Manage panel on the Automation Rules page activates, deactivates, deletes, or duplicates several rules in one action.
- Go to Orders > Automation Rules.
- Select the checkbox next to each rule you want to change, or select Select All to select every rule currently shown.
- In the Bulk Manage panel, select Activate, Deactivate, Delete, or Duplicate.
- If you selected Delete, confirm the action when prompted.
ShipHero processes a bulk action as one operation. If one selected rule can't be processed, the action stops and the remaining selected rules are left unchanged.
Deleting a rule breaks the link to it in the order history of every order it ran on. Deactivate a rule first if you may need to troubleshoot it.
How to Duplicate an Automation Rule in ShipHero
Duplicating an automation rule creates a copy of its triggers and actions in the same account, so you do not rebuild it by hand. Same-account duplication is available to every account type, including 3PL accounts, 3PL client accounts, and standard accounts.
- Go to Orders > Automation Rules.
- Select the checkbox next to each rule you want to copy.
- In the Bulk Manage panel, select Duplicate.
- Confirm the action. The page reloads and shows a success message.
- Open the copy, review its triggers and actions, and make your changes.
- Activate the copy when you are ready for it to run.
ShipHero names each copy after the original rule with Copy added to the end and creates it as inactive at the bottom of the list.
Duplicated Automation Rules Are Inactive
Duplicated rules are always created inactive. Open each copy, review its triggers and actions, and activate it when you're ready for it to run on new orders. If a duplicated rule is not firing on new orders, check that you activated it. This is the most common reason a copied rule appears to do nothing.
