Here is a guide for configuring and troubleshooting Socket Mobile scanners with the ShipHero mobile app.
Supported Models: ShipHero supports the following Socket Mobile scanner models: 7Ci, 7Pi, 800 series, and 700 series.
Configuring and Connecting a Socket Mobile SCanner
As of October 2, 2023, Socket Mobile scanners must be configured to Basic (HID) mode to work with the ShipHero mobile app. The previously supported iOS Application mode is no longer functional.
- New Scanners: Newly purchased scanners should already be in Basic (HID) mode and do not require any configuration changes.
- Switching Modes for Older Scanners: To switch a scanner from iOS Application mode to Basic (HID) mode:
- In your mobile device's Bluetooth settings, select "Forget This Device" for the scanner.
- Scan a specific Basic Mode barcode.
Connecting Your Scanner
- Ensure the scanner is in Basic (HID) mode.
- On your mobile device, go to Bluetooth settings and turn on Bluetooth.
- Select the "Socket CHS" device to pair.
- In the ShipHero app, go to Settings and confirm that "Socket CHS is connected" is displayed.
Important Note: When in Basic (HID) mode, the scanner icon in the ShipHero app will not display a green dot. This is normal and does not affect functionality.
Troubleshooting a Socket Mobile Scanner
Scanner Won't Connect
A factory reset is recommended if you are unable to connect your scanner.
- Press and hold the scan and power buttons on the scanner simultaneously.
- In your mobile device's Bluetooth settings, choose "Forget This Device."
- Turn off Bluetooth.
- Scan the provided Factory Reset Barcode.
- After the factory reset, you may need to scan the iOS Mode Barcode to return the scanner to the correct mode for troubleshooting.
Error Tone: If you hear 3 beeps followed by a long tone, the long tone indicates an error. This means the device cannot enter the correct mode. You will need to contact Socket Mobile Support to resolve the issue.
