How to Configure Tap-to-Pack Profiles

Important

Tap-to-Pack is only compatible with Packing App v1.1.0 and higher. To download the latest version, go to My Account > Apps and download it for your operating system.

A Tap-to-Pack profile tells each button on your controller what to do. It maps the Main Hub buttons to packing actions and assigns box sizes to the Button Hub slots. Without a profile, the hardware does not know how to respond.

Before You Begin

  • Your Tap-to-Pack hardware must be connected and powered on (red light visible on Main Hub).
  • You must have "View" and "Edit" access to the Settings permission.
  • The packing app must be running Version 1.1.0 or later to support Tap-to-Pack profiles.
  • Any box sizes you want to assign to buttons must be set to "Active" on the Shipping > Boxes page.

If you do not see Tap-to-Pack in your settings, contact ShipHero Support to have it enabled for your account.

Managing Tap-to-Pack Profiles

From the Tap-to-Pack settings page, you can manage your existing profiles:

Action Details
Rename Click the profile name to edit it. Profile names must be unique within your warehouse.
Duplicate Duplicate a profile to use it as a starting point. Useful when setting up multiple stations with similar configurations but different box assignments.
Activate/Deactivate Toggle a profile on or off. Deactivated profiles are saved but not available for selection at packing stations. Profiles are set to Active by default when created.
Delete Remove a profile entirely. Note: A profile cannot be deleted if it is assigned to an active station. Assign a new profile to the station first.

How to Create a New Tap-to-Pack Profile

To see which physical button on the controller corresponds to each mapped action, hover over any action in the list. The indicator on the controller image turns yellow to show which button it maps to.

  1. Go to the Tap-to-Pack settings page and click Create Profile.
  2. Enter a descriptive name for the profile and click the check mark to save — for example, "Multi Item Batch" or "Direct Pack". Profile names must be unique within your warehouse.

  3. Configure the Main Hub Buttons: The Main Hub has 8 built-in buttons. The following are pre-set and cannot be changed: Home, OK, Hospital, Add, Login, and Kiosk. Map the Print Label and Complete Order buttons to match your workflow.

To edit either button, click the pencil icon next to the action. Select the desired action from the dropdown and save your changes.

    Pro-Tip

Use "Complete order" (return to list) when shipping from totes. Use "Complete order and go to next order" when the station is set up for Direct Pack.

    1. Enable the Active toggle for the hub and any ports you are mapping.
    2. Click the pencil icon to open the box selection dropdown. The dropdown shows all boxes set to "Active" for your warehouse on the Shipping > Boxes page.
    3. Select the box type (Container) from the dropdown, then click Save.
    4. Repeat for each slot you want to map. You do not need to fill all 8 slots on each hub.

  2. Select Warehouses > Warehouse settings and select the Packing stations tab.
  3. Locate your station by name and select the correct Tap-to-Pack profile from the dropdown next to it.
