A Tap-to-Pack profile tells each button on your controller what to do. It maps the Main Hub buttons to packing actions and assigns box sizes to the Button Hub slots. Without a profile, the hardware does not know how to respond. This article covers how to create a profile, configure it, and assign it to a packing station.
Before You Begin
- Your Tap-to-Pack hardware must be connected and powered on (red light visible on Main Hub)
- You must have “View” and “Edit” access to the Settings permission
- The packing app must be running Version 0.8.7 or later to support Tap-to-Pack profiles
- Any box sizes you want to assign to buttons must be set to “Active” on the Shipping > Boxes page.
Note: If you do not see Tap-to-Pack in your settings, contact ShipHero support to have it enabled for your account.

Managing Profiles
From the Tap-to-Pack settings page, you can manage your existing profiles:
- Rename: Click the profile name to edit it. Tap-to-Pack profile names must be unique within your warehouse.
- Duplicate: Duplicate a profile to use it as a starting point. This is useful when setting up multiple stations with similar configurations but different box assignments.
- Activate/Deactivate: Toggle a profile on or off. Deactivated profiles are saved but not available for selection at packing stations. Profiles are set to "Active" by default when they are created.
- Delete: Remove a profile entirely. NOTE: A profile cannot be deleted if it is assigned to an active station; you must assign a new profile to the station first.
How to Create a New Profile

-
Enter a descriptive name for the profile (e.g., “Multi Item Batch” or “Direct Pack”). Reminder: Profile names must be unique within your warehouse.

How to Assign a Profile to a Packing Station
Once your profile is saved and active, it needs to be assigned to a station before your packers can use it. Stations are automatically registered when the ShipHero packing app is installed. To assign a profile to a station:
- Click the User Icon and click Settings from the Packing App or shipping.shiphero.com.
- Select Warehouses > Warehouse settings and select the tab labeled Packing stations.
