Shipping freight in ShipHero is not too different from shipping regular orders. Listed below are some best practices and ways to best handle freight shipping and picking in ShipHero.
Following these best practices will help keep better track of inventory and ensure that there is a detailed record of the freight order in ShipHero that you can refer to in case of any issues.
- Identify orders to be sent via freight in ShipHero using a Custom Status. This can be accomplished via an automation rule. The rule can be as simple as a number of SKUs in an order or a certain type of order number that is used when the order is placed
- Once the order is placed in that custom status you can direct your pickers to set the status on the mobile IOS device to the status that was created (suggestions are LTL or Freight). Once in the status, the picker will know that they need a larger tote for that order, maybe even the pallet that it will be shipping on.
- Once the pick is complete the packer can then process the order just like any other order. Scan the tote, Scan the items (if desired), Select box size as a pallet (this can be made under boxes and can be added in the automation rule for the custom status), then print packing slip (if desired) and label and you will be all set.
- The shipping method for freight should be set as Generic Label. If you are shipping more than one pallet you can add more packages when packing or you can still put all in one box since the BOL will be created outside of ShipHero. The Generic Label can act as a pallet tag for each pallet. The Generic Label will contain the Ship from address, Ship to address & Order Number (with a barcode).
