How to Create Kits in Shopify and BigCommerce

There are different ways to create a kit product in ShipHero. This one is the most simple and fast.

You can load a product in Shopify or BigCommerce store and have it break into components within ShipHero without having to take an extra step in ShipHero.

With this method, you cannot create sets with more than 1 unit of a given SKU, but you can always use ShipHero's standard kit creation method instead. It is important to note that all the components must exist in ShipHero and your store before creating a kit of them.

A popular use case for this feature is print-on-demand t-shirt companies. If your blank t-shirts have SKUs such as "white-small" and "white-medium", for example, you can create print styles of "The Band" graphics or "TV Show".

Then when you list a "TV Show" t-shirt, you create the SKUs as "shiphero*white-medium*tv-show", "shiphero*black-medium*tv-show", etc. ShipHero will break that up into the black-small blank t-shirt and the print style of "tv-show". No other work is required.

In summary, start with the SKU and then break up the components with an asterisk symbol "*". For example, if the SKU is "shiphero", a kit could look like "shiphero*WhiteShirt*SublimationPrintFront*TheBand". This would represent a set of 1 unit of White Shirt, 1 unit of SublimationPrintFront, and 1 unit of TheBand.
