Following the steps in this article will solve most issues with the Socket Mobile barcode scanner.
Keyboard will not pop-up within the app
If the keyboard refuses to pop up when you’re in the app it means the Socket Mobile is in HID mode. Use the manual and scan the control barcode to switch to iOS mode. Or scan the below barcode from an iPad or Retina screen. You may be unable to scan from other screens. The scanner will beep 3 times when a scan is successful.
Unable to connect the scanner to ShipHero
If you are unable to connect the scanner to ShipHero and have already reviewed the Socket Mobile Manual, you can try following these steps.
- On your scanner, press the scan and then the power button and hold them down simultaneously for a few seconds. The scanner will shut down with 3 beeps.
- Go to Bluetooth settings on the iPad, and Forget the scanner.
- Turn off Bluetooth on the iPad.
- Turn the scanner back on, and try scanning the Factory Reset Barcode displayed below. You should hear several tones and the scanner will turn off.
- Turn the scanner back on, and then scan the below iOS Mode Barcode. You should hear 3 beeps only.
NOTE: If you hear 3 beeps followed by a long tone, the long tone indicates an error. This means the device can not enter the correct mode. You will need to contact Socket Mobile Support to resolve the issue.
- If you only hear 3 beeps after scanning the iOS Mode Barcode, try turning Bluetooth back on the iPad.
- Connect the scanner to Bluetooth.

Additional Tips
- Download the Socket Mobile Command Sheet from the manufacturer's website.
- iOS 11 added another layer of Bluetooth control. After turning on Bluetooth in the settings menu, you will also need to tap Allow New Connections if the prompt appears. If you open the Control Center, verify that the Bluetooth button is also turned on.
- If you have already upgraded to iOS 11, please make sure you are using at least Version 11.1. Earlier versions of iOS 11 are not compatible with the Socket Mobile Scanners in iOS mode.
