The "NEW" Totes page is only available for Dynamic Slotting accounts. The advanced features are not compatible with Static Slotting functionality. Static Slotting accounts will need to use the "Legacy" Totes page until the account transistions to Dynamic Slotting, which must be completed by Oct. 1, 2025.
Totes are containers used to organize and track items during the order fulfillment process. In ShipHero, totes are specifically used during the Muti-Item Batch and Single Item batch order processing flows. When a picker generates a batch, items are collected and placed into totes which are tracked using unique barcodes. This system helps ensure accurate order fulfillment and provides traceability throughout the warehouse workflow.
Quick Facts About Totes in ShipHero
Quick Facts About Totes in ShipHero
- Totes can only be created from the Totes page, and the names are auto-generated by ShipHero upon creation.
- Editing tote names in bulk is not currently available in the platform; however, our Support team can assist with this request if you provide a CSV with the current tote name and the new tote name.
- Totes are warehouse specific. If you have a multi warehouse setup, you need to create different totes for each warehouse location orders are processed from. Totes cannot be shared between different warehouse locations.
- Totes are only assigned to orders during the batch picking processes. They are not supported during the single order or Bulk Ship processing flows.
Tote Best Practices
There are several things you can do to make it easier for your pickers to easily find the totes on your cart while picking:
-
- Have back-up/spare totes set aside to be able to fill into your picking carts should issues arise during the picking/packing processes.
- Use a different color tote for each shelf of your picking carts.
- Rename totes to coincide with what they are used for or other attirbutes. For example; Large Tote 1, Large Tote 2, Small Tote 1, Small Tote 2, Red Tote 1, Red Tote 2, etc.
