You can connect to as many Amazon marketplaces as you sell in and can have multiple accounts in the same marketplace. This article will walk you through the steps to connect your Amazon store(s) to ShipHero.
Connecting Your Amazon Store
Communication Between Amazon & ShipHero
Personally Identifiable Information Policy
ShipHero does not support Amazon's restock features. To manage these types of orders in ShipHero, we recommend using a combination of the Wholesale and Custom Work Order features. These features allow you to clearly communicate with your teams and manage the multi-step process required.
Connecting Your Amazon Store
Follow the instructions below for step-by-step guidance on connecting your Amazon Store.
- Go to the My Account > Stores page.
- Click the + Add a New Store button and select Amazon from the dropdown.
- Fill out the information in the Connect Your Amazon Store pop-up.
- The Store Name needs to be identical to what is listed in Amazon.
- The Marketplace ID refers to the country where the marketplace was created.
For stores with multiple marketplaces: If you need to connect the same Amazon store under a different Marketplace ID, please make sure to use the new Marketplace ID. If you use the same store name and Marketplace ID as a store that is already connected, a connection to the new Marketplace ID will not be established.
- Check the Download Products and Orders that are created in Amazon option to start pulling this data once the connection is complete. You can leave this off and enable it later if needed.
- Determine how you want the inventory on your store platform associated with your products from the initial connection.
- Match what is in Amazon: Import the inventory from the store platform and assign it to the Unassigned bin in the Primary warehouse for newly created SKUs; for all other warehouses, the SKU is created with a starting inventory of 0.
- Start at 0: All new SKUs imported from the store platform will have a starting inventory of 0 in ShipHero.
- If you have multi-warehouse enabled: You will see an option to decide which warehouse in ShipHero the products will be created in. The default setting is All Warehouses; however, you may only fulfill for this store from certain locations. Therefore, you can select those specific warehouses to eliminate extra products from being created in your ShipHero account, reducing "noise" in your account's data.
-
Click the Connect button.
-
You will be redirected to an Amazon page where you will need to authorize ShipHero. You will be redirected back to ShipHero afterward.
IMPORTANT NOTE: Amazon may send you an email to confirm our access. If so, please follow the instructions in the email to complete the process.
Communication Between Amazon & ShipHero
Given how Amazon's API is configured, there are scheduled times at which ShipHero tries to pull information from Amazon. This schedule will impact the times at which you see orders and products import into your dashboard. Please review the schedules below.
Importing Products and Inventory Syncs
- ShipHero syncs with Amazon every 30 minutes to import products that are not currently in the system.
- ShipHero will also perform a full import of products every day at midnight UTC to ensure that all products are pulled in.
- Pushing Inventory Updates to Amazon: ShipHero pushes inventory updates to Amazon every 20 minutes.
Importing Orders and Shipment Updates
- ShipHero syncs with Amazon every 30 minutes to import orders for all active accounts.
- By default, ShipHero will only import Merchant Fulfillment (MFN) orders that have been released by Amazon.
- ShipHero also runs a sync four times a day to ensure that all orders are pulled in.
- ShipHero does not import FBA (Fulfilled by Amazon) orders.
- Pushing Shipment Updates to Amazon: ShipHero pushes shipment and tracking updates to Amazon every 30 minutes to avoid throttling the Amazon API.
How to Import Orders that have not been Released by Amazon
Amazon does not release orders right away; they are first put in a pending status. If you would like pending orders imported to ensure inventory allocation, you can enable it on the settings page:
Important Notes About Importing Pending Orders*
Pending orders* refers to orders that Amazon has not yet released, not to be mistaken for a pending/unfulfilled status in ShipHero for orders that still need to be processed in the warehouse.
- The order will be imported with a Payment Hold.
- Inventory will be allocated to the order.
- Automation Rules will not run until an order is released from Amazon.
- Amazon does not provide ShipHero with address information until the order is released; this portion of the order will be blank until the order is released.
- It can take anywhere from 1 hour to 21 days for Amazon to release an order.
- Once released, the order is marked as Unshipped on Amazon. It can take up to 30 minutes for the order to update in ShipHero once released.
Personally Identifiable Information Policy
To ensure compliance with data protection regulations, Amazon's Data Protection Policy, and to safeguard your data, we have implemented a policy of periodically deleting all personally identifiable information (PII) associated with orders placed through Amazon stores.
- Data Retention Period: We retain PII related to Amazon orders for a maximum of 30 days from the date of order completion.
- Deletion Process: After the 30-day retention period, all PII is securely deleted from our systems. This includes names, addresses, contact details, and any other information that can be used to identify an individual.
If you have any questions or require further information about our data deletion practices, please contact our support team.
NOTE: We are in the process of migrating to Amazon’s new Selling Partner API. This process will be seamless for you.
