How to Set a Return Warehouse Using Automation Rules

Do you need customers to return products to a warehouse other than the one they were sent from? Then, use the Set Return Warehouse automation rule action. This action sets the warehouse you want to use as your ship-to address for return shipping labels generated automatically or by manually creating a return order.

Common Use Cases

  • Returns are processed at a different location from the fulfillment warehouse
  • A 3PL client wants to send returns to their own facility or another location to be processed

Prerequisites

  • The return warehouse with a default profile must exist in ShipHero. For more information, see: How to Set Up Multiple Warehouses
  • Carriers must be connected to the warehouse returns are being sent to generate and quote labels accurately.

IMPORTANT NOTES

  • You cannot have multiple return warehouses on the same order. If you need some SKUs sent to one location and other SKUs sent to another location, you will need to do this manually while creating a return.
  • This setting does NOT change the ShipFrom address on the label used to ship the order out.

Example Rule

  • Go to the Orders > Automation Rules page and select Create New Rule.
  • Choose a Trigger
  • Click on Choose An Action > Set Return Warehouse and select the warehouse from the dropdown.
