Troubleshooting DHL Error: Invalid Destination Location

When attempting to fulfill an order via DHL, you may encounter the error: "DHL Issue: The destination location is invalid. Please check the data." This message is a direct relay from DHL's servers indicating that the shipping address provided does not match their global destination database.

ShipHero does not generate this error; it simply displays the rejection message received from DHL's validation API.

Identifying the Address Issue

Because the error message is broad, you must determine which specific component of the address—such as the Postal Code, City, or Country—is considered invalid. The most efficient way to identify the error is to use DHL's official diagnostic tool.

  1. Navigate to the DHL Get a Rate and Time Quote tool.
  2. Enter the Destination Address exactly as it appears in the ShipHero order.
  3. The DHL tool will highlight which specific field is incorrect or provide a suggested correction.
  4. Update the address in the Order Details page in ShipHero.
  5. Attempt to generate the label again.
