Wave Packing fulfills the orders on a picked wave cart at a pack station. It uses the same Single Order Packing screen you may already know, with cart-mounted Pack-to-Light hardware lighting the totes for each order automatically.
Before You Begin
- Configuration requirements: The wave cart must be fully picked and parked before packing begins. The cart's Pick-to-Light hub must be powered (ShipHero recommends plugging into USB power at the pack station so a low battery doesn't interrupt packing mid-wave), and Bluetooth must be enabled on the pack station computer.
- Software requirements: ShipHero Desktop App v1.1.0 or higher on the pack station computer.
For a full walkthrough of the Wave Picking workflow, see How to Pick Waves in ShipHero.

Step 1: Connect the Wave Cart to the Pack Station in ShipHero
- Push the cart up to the pack station.
- Plug the cart's Pick-to-Light hub into USB power at the station.
- Scan the cart's QR code with your hand scanner.
ShipHero establishes a Bluetooth connection between the cart and the station, verifies that all tote-position lights respond, and loads the first order on the Single Order Packing screen.
[IMAGE PLACEHOLDER] What it should show: The cart being scanned in at the pack station. Lower priority: you're planning to capture the live packing-station flow at the conference instead.

Connection Failed
If the connection fails, the app shows an error with troubleshooting guidance. Check that Bluetooth is enabled and the hub is powered, then retry. If the issue persists, scan any tote on the cart instead of the QR code to fall back to the Pack from Tote flow.
Step 2: Pack Orders from the Wave Cart in ShipHero
The Single Order Packing screen shows each order's line items, the SKU for each item, which tote on the cart holds it, and the quantity required. Repeat the steps below for each line item, then for each order in the wave.
- Look at your cart. Pack-to-Light illuminates the totes containing items for the current order in orange. Orders with several SKUs light multiple totes at once.
- Pick up the requested quantity from the lit tote.
- Scan the SKU barcode at the station to confirm. The tote's light turns off.
- Place the items in the shipping container.
- When all line items are packed, print the shipping label and complete the order.
ShipHero advances to the next pending order automatically, lighting the relevant totes, until every order in the wave is packed.
[IMAGE PLACEHOLDER] What it should show: A lit tote being packed and the packing-complete state. Lower priority, same reasoning as above.

Wrong Tote Scanned
If you scan a SKU from the wrong tote, the app shows an error and tells you which tote holds the correct items.
