How to Enable the PIN Code Screen for the Packing App

Use this setup for temporary employees and other staff who need the Mobile App or Packing App but do not need broader ShipHero access. A generic Auth user with no roles or permissions signs into each packing station or mobile device. Employees then switch to their own ShipHero accounts with PINs, so they can move between users quickly and securely without typing their passwords on each device.

ShipHero automatically generates a PIN for each new user. The same PIN works in the ShipHero Mobile App.

Create an Auth User for PIN-Based App Login

An Auth user is a generic ShipHero account with no roles or permissions. Use it to sign into a Packing App station or Mobile device. Employees then switch to their own ShipHero accounts with their individual PINs. This lets staff switch users quickly and securely without typing their passwords on each device.

  1. Create a new user in ShipHero for app sign-ins.
  2. Leave the user's role and admin permissions unassigned.
  3. Use a real email address in your company domain if the account needs to support single sign-on (SSO).

Create PIN Badges for the Mobile and Packing Apps

The front QR code on a badge contains the employee's PIN. Scan this QR code at the PIN screen in either app.

  1. Go to My Account > Users > User Settings > Create Badge.

Enable PIN-Based Login in the Packing App

  1. Go to the My Account > Settings > App Settings page and scroll to the Packing App Login section.
  2. Select the Enable Pin Based Login checkbox.
  3. Enter the number of minutes for the Idle timeout.
  4. Click Save/Update.

Use PIN Login in the Mobile and Packing Apps

Sign into the Mobile App and Packing App with the Auth user's username and password at the start of the day. Employees then use their individual PINs to switch to their own ShipHero accounts.
