Cases are products that contain other products. Treat cases as any other product in ShipHero, when receiving, transferring among locations, or picking and packing cases to fulfill an order.
How to Break Cases Into Eaches
How to Create a Case
Product cases can be created on the individual product or in bulk using the CSV upload feature.
Creating a Case at the Product Level
- Navigate to Inventory > Products.
- Search for and click on the product you want to make into a case. This product must be in the ShipHero system to be selected—for example, Keto Bar case (12 bars).
- On the product page, scroll down to the Product Case Component section.
- Search for the product you want to make a case for. For example, Keto Bars.
- Edit the Eaches in case value to the number of products within the case and hit enter—for example, 12 for Keto Bar case (12 bars).
Creating a Case via CSV Upload
- Go to app.shiphero.com > My Account > CSV Managment.
- From the drop-down, choose Product Cases.
- Download the CSV template and fill in the information. Fill in the information needed.
- Save the CSV and upload the CSV to the desired warehouse.
Note: The product should not have inventory or locations assigned to it before creating the case. Add bins and inventory to the case afterward.
Note: Cases in ShipHero are treated the same as any SKU when looking to receive, pick, pack or ship.
How Inventory is Calculated
The main difference between a regular product and a case is how we calculate the component product's inventory. Cases have inventories of their own, but the inventory of their components includes cases.
Here is a practical example:
- I have two products: Soda Can and Soda 12-pack.
- Soda 12-pack is a case of twelve Soda Cans.
- Soda Can is stored in the pickable bin A-01.
- Soda 12-pack is stored in the overstock bins C-01 and C-02.
Because Soda Can is a component of the Soda 12-pack case, its inventory includes the number of eaches within those cases, as illustrated below.
