Using the Hospital Location Feature in the Mobile App

The Hospital feature lets pickers flag an inventory location as non-pickable when there's an issue. Once flagged, pickers won't be directed to that location until the problem is resolved and the flag is cleared.

Most Common Use Cases for the Hospital Feature

The most common use case occurs when a picker arrives at a location and can't pick an item — typically because the inventory count in the system is incorrect and there aren't enough units to fulfill the order.

Why Mark a Location as Hospital

Flagging a location as Hospital on the ShipHero Mobile App alerts your inventory team that there's a fulfillment issue. The team can then investigate, resolve the problem, and clear the flag to make the location pickable again.

To mark a location as Hospital, the user must have Bins Edit permission enabled.

How to Mark a Location as Hospital on the ShipHero Mobile App

If a picker arrives at a location and cannot pick the item, follow these steps:

  • Select Report Issue in the top right of the screen.

  • On the pop-up menu, select Not enough units in location.

  • Tap Yes to confirm you want to flag this location as Hospital.

  • The location is now marked as Nonpickable.

How to Clear the Hospital Flag from a Location

An Inventory Control Specialist should check the mobile app for Hospital locations at least once an hour.

Users must have Bins Edit permission to search by location and clear the Hospital flag.

  • Open the ShipHero Mobile App and go to Inventory.
  • Select Search by Location.
  • Tap the Filter icon in the top right. Under Hospital, select Yes, then tap Apply

  • Tap the X next to Hospital at the top of the screen to clear the flag.
  • A confirmation screen will appear.

  • Tap Yes to remove the Hospital flag.
  • A banner at the bottom of the screen confirms the flag has been removed.

If no inventory changes are needed, you can still clear the flag — tap the X next to the Hospital badge at the top of the screen.

How to Set Up Email Notifications when a Location is Marked Hospital

You can receive an email notification whenever a location is flagged as Hospital. Follow these steps to enable it.

  • Log into your ShipHero account.
  • Navigate to My Account > Settings.
  • Under Emails, find the Notify From Warehouse Email field and enter the email address of the person who should be notified when a location is flagged as Hospital.
  • Scroll to the bottom of the page and click Save Changes.
