Getting Started: A Step-by-Step Guide
Step 1: Confirm Your Shopify Locations in ShipHero
First, ensure your Shopify locations are correctly added and recognized in ShipHero.
-
- Go to the My Account > Stores page
- Click on Settings, then, navigate to the Locations tab
- If the locations are not showing, hit the Sync Locations button
NOTE for 3PL's: To see Shopify location information and be able to sync, you must be signed into the client account.
Step 2: Enable the Automation Rules Feature Flag
Next, you'll need to turn on the feature that allows automation rules to work with locations.
- On the Store Settings page
- Check off the setting "Save Item Fulfillment Location When Importing Orders"
- Hit Save.
Important Note: Enabling this feature will increase your Shopify API usage. Only turn this on if you plan to actively use these automation rules.
Step 3: Create Your Automation Rules
Setting up your automation rules before any new orders are imported into ShipHero is crucial.
-
- Go to the Orders > Automation Rules page.
- Click on "add automation rule."
- Select the Shopify Item Assigned to Location, required condition, and location from the drop-downs.
- Then configure the Action needed.
NOTE: If using the Lock to Warehouse Action and have MWA (Multi Warehouse Allocation) enabled please continue to the next step.
Step 4: Configure for Multi Warehouse Allocation (If Applicable)
If you use the Lock to Warehouse Trigger in Automation rules and have MWA enabled, then an MWA rule is required to hold the warehouse assignment. Without this specific rule, your other MWA rule could override your new automation rule that aims to lock products to a particular warehouse.
-
- Go to the MW Allocation Page
- Hit Create New Rule.
- Assign the conditions, and in the actions be sure to use the Allocate and Backorder to Locked Warhouse.
