Shippo is a multi-carrier shipping platform designed to simplify the logistics of e-commerce, allowing you to tap into deeply discounted shipping rates and specialized regional carriers directly within the ShipHero interface. Integrating your Shippo account with ShipHero is one of the fastest ways to expand your shipping options.
When you connect Shippo, you aren't just adding one carrier; you are importing an entire ecosystem of shipping possibilities directly into your ShipHero dashboard. This allows your team to:
- Compare Rates Instantly: Access multiple carriers (like USPS, OnTrac, and regional providers) to find the most cost-effective shipping method for every package.
- Automate Carrier Selection: Use Automation Rules to automatically assign the best Shippo-backed carrier based on weight or destination.
- Eliminate Manual Data Entry: Your credentials and carrier accounts in Shippo sync automatically, reducing the risk of setup errors.
Things to Consider
- IMPORTANT: Native carrier connections are not supported via Shippo: With the exception of USPS, carriers for which ShipHero offers a native integration for cannot be connected via the Shippo integration, including but not limited to: Canada Post, FedEx, DHL, and UPS.
- Adding new carriers to Shippo after connecting to ShipHero: If you connect additional carriers in your Shippo account after connecting it to ShipHero, you will need to disconnect and reconnect the account to initiate the carrier synchronization.
- Shippo carrier not showing after connecting to ShipHero: If all of your carrier accounts connected to Shippo are not showing in the list after connecting your Shippo account to ShipHero, please reach out to support@shiphero.com for assistance.

Connecting Shippo to ShipHero
When you connect Shippo to ShipHero, the system performs a sophisticated "handshake" and data sync in a two-part process: first, you connect your Shippo account, and then ShipHero automatically syncs the carriers you have connected in Shippo.
1. Connect Your Shippo Account
- Go to the Shipping > Carriers page and click the Connect Carrier button.
- Select Shippo from the list of available carriers and choose the Profile and Warehouse you are connecting to Shippo.
-
Click the Connect button. You will be redirected to the Shippo Login page. Input your credentials and give ShipHero permission to access your Shippo data. You will be redirected back to the ShipHero page once the process is complete.
2. Automatic Carrier Synchronization
Once the connection is established, ShipHero doesn't wait for you to add carriers manually. It immediately scans your Shippo account and imports all supported carriers.
- Supported Carriers: ShipHero pulls in major and regional carriers, including USPS, OnTrac, AxleHire, and Better Trucks.
- Smart Filtering: The system identifies which carriers in your Shippo account are active and ready for use.
- The "Shippo Prefix": To help you stay organized, these carriers will appear in your ShipHero Shipping Methods list with a shippo__ prefix (e.g., shippo__usps or shippo__ontrac).
Available Settings After Connecting Shippo
After connecting your Shippo account to ShipHero, the following settings are available for you to use:
- Cut-Off Time: Labels generated after this time will print with the creation date of the following day.
- Disable Quoting: Use this setting to prevent this account from being quoted in the rate shopping tools or when using the cheapest shipping methods.
Important Reminders when Connecting a Carrier Account
- Using Custom Profiles: Custom profiles allow you to connect the same carrier account multiple times with unique settings, such as specific Incoterms or 3rd Party Billing. For these settings to apply, the order must be assigned to that specific profile. If the assigned profile lacks a connected carrier, ShipHero will automatically use the carrier account connected the warehouse’s default profile for the selected shipping method. This ensures your specialized billing and shipping terms are applied correctly to every label. Visit the following article for more information on How to Use Warehouse Profiles.
- Multi-Warehouse Accounts: To generate labels from multiple warehouses, you must connect your carrier account to each individual location in ShipHero to avoid shipping errors or billing discrepancies. Please consult your carrier to determine if a single account number supports multiple origins or if unique accounts are required for each site. This is especially critical for international locations, as carrier operations vary by country.
- Note for 3PLs: When connecting a new carrier account to ShipHero, double check your 3PL Clients' Settings to ensure you are connecting the carrier account to the correct ShipHero account; if Use Customer's Shipping Accounts is enabled the carrier account must be connected at the child account level, if Use Customer's Shipping Account is not enabled, the carrier account needs to be enabled at the 3PL level. More information about Managing 3PL Client Settings can be found here.
