The Packer Performance Dashboard allows your operations team to seek labor efficiency in a data driven and accurate way. In the past, without tools like the Packer Performance Dashboard it was a common management practice to use "shipments packed per hour” as a proxy for efficiency but this is inherently an inexact way to measure people. It skews results into preferring a mix of packages that are faster and easier to pack, and shows low numbers for hard to pack shipments.

The Packer Performance Dashboard uses the actual past packing data (and performance) to compare each packed order against past performance of identical or similar orders.
The dashboard then shows in real time, the performance of all packers for the day or chosen period of time, allowing to you manage performance and calculate necessary future labor.
What Packer Performance Dashboard Can Do
- View the performance for all packers working during the period in a single view.
- Review the total time executing packing activities in the system and the total time assigned to packing activities on WorkforceHero.
- View total shipments, units packed by the packer.
The dashboard uses in-software packing events, such as Tote Scan, Item Scan, Print Label, and Order Complete, to measure the packing time of each order, and compare it to the expected packing time. Based on this difference, a score is assigned to each packed order.
The Packer Performance Dashboard Scoring Rubric
The score ranges from 0 to 10 where 0 is considered a bad score and 10 is considered an exceptional score.
Scoring Rubric Explained
- A score of 0 means the job took twice or more of the expected time.
- A score below 5 means the packer was slower than expected.
- A score of 5 means that the order was packed exactly within the expected time.
- A score above 5 means the packer was faster than expected.
- A score of 10 means the order was packed in half of the expected time or less.
Finally, each packer’s performance score is calculated as the average of the scores for all orders packed within a given time frame (e.g., the average score for orders packed throughout the day).
NOTE: Only ShipHero clients with WorkforceHero enabled will be able to use Packer Performance Dashboard. Additionally, once the PPD feature flag is turned on, it will take approximately 2 weeks to complete data collection. Once that data collection period is up, the dashboard will populate.
Example Use Cases
- Daily, hourly review of performance to increase average performance per day.
- For temporary workers, reviewing the performance during the day or week, to decide which are the best ranked and either approach for improvement or bringing back only the best performing.
- Deciding if there are enough people packing under current performance or using past performance to review if incoming volume is manageable with current or increased headcount on packing.
