How to Generate Labels for Freight Wholesale Orders
Updated
ShipHero supports label generation for both Non-EDI and EDI Freight orders. Unlike Courier wholesale orders with parcel shipments, Freight orders require specific packing, palletization, and labeling protocols to ensure successful delivery.
Depending on your requirements, you may need labels for the pallets themselves and carton labels for the individual boxes contained on those pallets. Before generating your Freight labels double check your Shipping details to ensure everything is correct.
How to Change Shipping Details
Navigate to the Order Details tab of your wholesale order. Specific shipping detail fields related to Freight orders are available and can be modified at any time during the fulfillment process.
NOTE: Modifying shipping details after labels have been generated will trigger a prompt. You must regenerate labels to ensure that any updated fields are accurately reflected before proceeding with the shipment.
Step-by-Step Label Generation Process
Select Generate Labels to open the configuration window. If your shipment requires individual box labeling, check the Carton Labels box, then confirm by clicking Generate labels.

During generation, the order status displays as Generating labels with a processing icon.
Once complete, the order status updates to Ready to print.
Select Print shipping labels. This produces a PDF containing all necessary labels. Each label references the specific Box ID. After printing, the status updates to Warehouse Complete, enabling the Fulfill order option.
CAUTION: Do not click the Fulfill order button until the Outbound Schedule is complete. Review the Outbound Schedule for Wholesale for further instructions.

Re-printing Labels
To re-print a specific pallet or carton label, select the item from the list and use the Re-print labels option in the bulk actions menu.
Generating Labels for Freight Orders (EDI)
EDI Freight orders differ primarily in how labels are generated. When Generate labels is selected for an EDI order, the labels are created through the integrated EDI platform rather than ShipHero’s native system.
Required shipping details and carton label requirements are dictated by the specific retailer's EDI platform. While the user interface steps remain the same, EDI orders include a generated SSCC code for every required label.
Send ASN (Advance Shipping Notice)
The ASN is a mandatory XML document that reports packing details, dimensions, and weights. You can send the ASN during the final fulfillment step or generate it in advance if shipping information requires validation.
