Mobile Barcode Scanners
- The ShipHero Mobile App is compatible with most Bluetooth HID scanners. For HID scanner connections, please take a look at this important note about the onscreen keyboard.
- ShipHero also supports Socket Mobile barcode scanners in HID mode and the 2D Glove Barcode Scanner.
Note: Due to the large number of Bluetooth barcode scanners, we are unable to test every bluetooth scanner or provide a specific list of supported ones. Please test the scanner before going with a specific model. We will be unable to help troubleshoot specific HID scanner models.
Note: Wholesale QR feature will need a scanner with the QR feature.
Print Stations
Print Stations are used to print labels or barcodes for shipping and receiving stations. You can use both the web app and the desktop.
The desktop operating system can be Windows, Mac, or a combination of both.
PC Minimum Requirements:
- Microsoft Windows 10 operating system
- 4GB memory 1.7GHz or faster CPU
- 512MB available storage
- Chrome browser recommended
Mac Minimum Requirements:
- MacOS Version 10.11 "El Capitan" or later operating system
- 4GB memory 1.4GHz or faster CPU
- 512MB available storage
- Chrome browser recommended
Note: For the best experience with ShipHero.app, we recommend using Google Chrome for your browser.
Desktop Barcode Scanners
For packing, receiving, and shipping, we recommend USB scanners like these.
- We also support the Hands-Free 2D Barcode Scanner which we use in all our warehouses.
- If you are located in Australia, we recommend purchasing hardware from https://www.barcodes.com.au/shiphero/, which offers free delivery.
Printers
We recommend using a hardwired connection for all packing and printing stations for optimal performance.
Labels
Any thermal label printer, including:
Invoices
Any standard laser printer will work. Invoices can be printed on label printers as well.
Barcodes
Printing barcode labels is optional. Any USB thermal label printer will work, but we recommend printing on sizes 1.125"x3.5" or 2.25"x1.25".
Note: We do not recommend using a Dymo for barcode label printing if you are using a Mac. Dymo printers have a compatibility issue with Mac OS which prevents multiple copies of a label being printed at one time.
Scales
For heavy use, we recommend the following:
- Mettler Toledo scale models tested and approved: PS60 & BC60
- Fairbanks Ultegra Scale model 29824 tested and approved for Windows OS only
For questions on other Mettler Toledo and Fairbanks Scales, please reach out to support.
Note: We do not recommend the use of the Dymo m10 or m25 USB scales.
Adaptive Packing Stations
NOTE: This is an alternative setup Vs using the Command Barcode and USB scanners.
Adaptive packing stations incorporate an Xbox adaptive gaming controller for faster scanning. Read our Adaptive Packing Station help article for configuration details and our blog post to learn more.
Each adaptive packing station requires the following hardware:
Optionally, you may need this additional hardware for optimum button placement:
- 3.5mm male-to-female mono extension cables (various lengths available)
Note: We recommend "slim" cable plugs because the input sockets on the Adaptive Controller are spaced close together. If the cable ends are too wide, there may not be enough room to plug them in next to one another.
ParcelView Package Snapshot (Optional Set up)
ShipHero's ParcelView feature allows the packer to take a snapshot of each package before printing the shipping label. Read our ParcelView help article for configuration details.
Each packing station using ParcelView requires the following hardware:
- 1080P HD webcam with a USB connector
Note: We have tested inexpensive cameras like these with a packing station mounted arm, and it works great for most smaller package sizes. You may want to mount your camera higher or use a longer mounting arm if you tend to have larger packages.
