Compatible Apple Devices and Models
iPod Touch: End of Life
iPod Touch (7th generation) is currently supported but is reaching the end of its lifecycle and could soon become obsolete. If you are using an iPod Touch with the ShipHero Mobile App, upgrade your devices.
Android Not Supported
The ShipHero Mobile App is only available for Apple iOS devices. Android mobile devices are not supported.
Supported Mobile Barcode Scanners for the ShipHero Mobile App
Using a scanner throughout your warehouse processes offers three key benefits: increased efficiency, improved accuracy, and better inventory management.
The ShipHero Mobile App is compatible with most Bluetooth HID scanners and with compatible Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) scanners. Learn more about connecting HID scanners and managing the on-screen keyboard.
Recommended Barcode Scanners
- Any scanner in HID mode
- 2D Glove Barcode Scanner
- If you are using the Wholesale QR feature, you need a scanner with QR functionality.
Due to the large number of Bluetooth barcode scanners available, we are unable to test every model or provide a specific list of supported ones. Test the scanner before committing to a specific model, as we are unable to help troubleshoot individual HID scanner models.
BLE Barcode Scanner Support for the ShipHero Mobile App
The ShipHero Mobile App also supports compatible Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) barcode scanners. BLE scanners offer faster pairing and reconnection, along with faster, more responsive barcode reads. Support varies by manufacturer and model, so confirm BLE support with your scanner's manufacturer before you buy.
For the list of tested BLE scanner models, connection steps, and troubleshooting, see Connecting and Troubleshooting BLE Barcode Scanners with ShipHero Mobile.
Supported Mobile Printers for the ShipHero Mobile App
The ShipHero Mobile App connects directly to label printers over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth, letting warehouse teams print barcodes from an iPhone or iPad on the warehouse floor.
Zebra printers only: Mobile printing is supported for Zebra printers at this time. See How to Connect Printers to the ShipHero Mobile App for the full list of supported Zebra models and setup steps.
Hardware for ShipHero Printing and Packing Stations
Printing and packing stations are crucial for an efficient, paperless warehouse. Whether you use them to print barcodes during receiving or to generate shipping labels at the final stage of fulfillment, the core hardware requirements stay the same.
The basic requirements for a printing or packing station include a PC or laptop, desktop barcode scanner, various printers, and an optional scale.
| PC Minimum Requirements | Mac Minimum Requirements |

Recommended Printing and Packing Station Hardware
When setting up your printing and packing stations, we recommend using a hardwired connection for optimal performance. Connecting your printers over a wireless network can cause delays and put additional strain on your internet connection.
For customers in Australia: We recommend purchasing hardware from barcodes.com.au/shiphero, which offers free delivery.
| Device | Recommended Models |
|---|---|
| Desktop Barcode Scanners |
|
| Label Printers | |
| Labels | Any thermal labels, including: Zebra, Rollo, Dymo 4XL |
| Invoice & Barcode Printers |
Mac CompatibilityWe do not recommend using a Dymo printer for barcode label printing on a Mac. Dymo printers have a compatibility issue that prevents multiple copies of a label from being printed at one time on macOS. |
| Scales (Optional) |
We do not recommend the Dymo m10 or Dymo m25 USB scales. These go to sleep and need to be reconfigured each time. |
When you have the account setting "Use the total product weight as the weight of the order" enabled for your shipments, scales are optional.
Additional Packing Station Hardware (Optional)
You have several other options when configuring your packing stations. These include converting to a Tap-to-Pack Station or Adaptive Packing Station, or using the ParcelView package snapshot feature. Each has additional hardware requirements listed below.
| Station Type | Required Hardware |
|---|---|
| Tap-to-Pack Stations | Tap-to-Pack is a physical hardware controller created by ShipHero that replaces the keyboard and mouse at your packing stations with programmable buttons, LED visual guidance, and audio confirmation. You can purchase the kit at store.shiphero.com, and it comes with everything you need to get started. |
| Adaptive Packing Stations |
We recommend "slim" cable plugs because the input sockets on the Adaptive Controller are spaced close together. Optional for button placement: 3.5mm male-to-female mono extension cables, available in various lengths. |
| ParcelView Package Snapshot |
1080P HD webcam with a USB connector. We have successfully tested inexpensive cameras like these with a packing station mounted arm. This setup works well for most smaller packages. |
WiFi and Network Requirements for ShipHero Devices
Network performance has a direct impact on scanning speed and mobile app responsiveness. Below are the minimum recommended WiFi specifications for warehouses running the ShipHero Mobile App:
- Minimum recommended bandwidth: 5 Mbps
- Preferred frequency band: 5 GHz for lower interference
- Recommended signal strength: -65 dBm or higher
- Low-latency network configuration
