How to Ship to PO Boxes

ShipHero checks every U.S. shipping address for PO Boxes. When it detects one, it restricts the order to USPS or USPS last-mile delivery services. An order whose carrier setup has no approved PO Box carrier fails with a label generation error.

Before You Begin

  • Approved PO Box carriers: DHL eCommerce, FedEx Ground Economy, and UPS Mail Innovations.
  • Connected carriers only: RateShop+ only lists carriers that are already connected under Shipping > Carriers. Connect the approved carrier before adding it to a RateShop+ profile.

PO Box Shipping Rules in ShipHero

ShipHero limits PO Box orders to the three approved carriers above and USPS services. The carrier or RateShop+ profile on the order decides whether the label generates.

How to Fix PO Box Label Generation Errors in ShipHero

A PO Box label error means the carrier setup on the order has no approved PO Box carrier. Use one of the options below.

Select a Different RateShop+ Profile for a PO Box Order

  1. Open the order that ships to the PO Box.
  2. Set Carrier to Cheapest.
  3. Set Method to a RateShop+ profile that includes at least one approved PO Box carrier.
  4. Generate the label again.

Update a RateShop+ Profile to Include a PO Box Carrier

  1. Go to Settings > Shipping and open the RateShop+ tab.
  2. Open the RateShop+ profile assigned to the order.
  3. Add at least one approved PO Box carrier method, such as FedEx Ground Economy or UPS Mail Innovations.
  4. Save the profile.
  5. Generate the label again.

Switch a PO Box Order to an Approved Carrier or a Street Address

For an order mapped to a non-USPS carrier, switch the order to an approved PO Box carrier. Or change the shipping address on the order to a street address, which lets the order use its existing carrier.
