Your customer receives a return label via email when the RMA is created:
Once you receive the package to the warehouse, you can now mark it as received and restocked:
- Navigate to Returns > All Returns:
- Scan the barcode on the label into the search field:
- Enter the number of each line item that is received and restocked.
- When all the expected items are received, mark the RMA as Warehouse Complete.
Marking the return as Received and not Restocked will not increase the on-hand inventory for the product. Only when you mark it as Restocked will the inventory update.
Finding a Return by Scanning a USPS or FedEx Label Barcode
The search field on the Returns > All Returns page accepts a scanned USPS or FedEx shipping label barcode. ShipHero reads the tracking number from the barcode and shows the matching return (RMA), so you do not need to type the tracking number.
USPS and FedEx Label Barcodes ShipHero Reads When You Scan for a Return
ShipHero extracts the tracking number from the barcode, even when the barcode holds more data than the tracking number.
- USPS: ShipHero reads barcodes that start with the 420 prefix and include a destination ZIP or ZIP+4 code.
- FedEx: ShipHero reads 34-digit barcodes that start with 96. It uses the last 12 digits of the barcode as the tracking number.
Automatic Date Range Change When You Scan a Return Label
The All Returns page searches the last 30 days by default. A return can be created weeks before its package reaches the warehouse, which can place the return outside that window.
When a scanned tracking number matches a return created within the last six months, ShipHero moves the Start Date back far enough to include that return. A short message on the screen confirms that the date range was adjusted. You do not need to change the date range yourself.
