How to Use Tariff Codes (HS Codes) in ShipHero

Tariff/HS codes must be manually added to each product in ShipHero — they do not sync automatically from your eCommerce store. You can add them individually or in bulk.

Tariff/HS codes can now sync with Shopify if you have the setting active. (More info)

Individually Edit Tariff Codes

  1. Go to Inventory > Products and open the product you want to edit.
  2. Click the pencil icon in the top-right corner.
  3. Scroll to Tariff Code, enter the appropriate code, and click Update to save.

Bulk Edit Tariff Codes

Use the Bulk Edit feature to update tariff codes across multiple products at once.

  1. Download the Bulk Edit template from Inventory > Products > Bulk Manage.
  2. Enter the codes in the Tariff Code column, matched to the correct SKUs.
  3. Save the file and upload the CSV at the same Bulk Manage page.

Setting a Default Tariff Code

A default tariff code can be set under My Account > Settings in the General Settings section. This code automatically applies to any product without one assigned and takes effect on international shipments created after the setting is saved.

Finding the Right Tariff Code

Tariff/HS codes are available on government customs websites and other online resources. If you're unsure which code applies, contact your carrier representative.
