Understanding Virtual Warehouses in ShipHero

Virtual warehouses allow you to manage inventory independently from your primary fulfillment center. This is commonly used for receiving and processing pallets, managing returns, or isolating inventory that is not yet ready for sale.

Create a Virtual Warehouse

To establish a new virtual storage location, follow these steps within your dashboard:

  1. Navigate to My Account > Warehouses.
  2. Select Add a Warehouse located at the top right of the page.
  3. Under the Profile section, select Default.
  4. Under the Warehouse section, select Create a new warehouse and name the entity VIRTUAL.

Critical Setting

When configuring your warehouse, ensure you select the checkbox for Don't include stock from this warehouse in available items to sell. This prevents virtual inventory from being listed as available on your sales channels.
