ShipHero allows users to pick inventory directly from License Plate Numbers (LPNs) generated during the inbound receiving process within the Wholesale flow.
Picking LPNs in the Manual Picking Workflow
When using the Manual Picking workflow, the system specifies exactly which LPNs are required on the Picking Slip to ensure the operator selects the correct container.
Example: If a picker needs to retrieve 30 units from Location OSP-LPN-Cheetos, the system will direct them to LPN-BO3581.
Picking LPNs in the Mobile Picking Workflow
The mobile interface supports Direct LPN Scanning. This capability allows operators to validate picking requirements instantly. When an operator scans an LPN, the system validates three critical criteria:
- Location: Confirms the LPN is in the correct assigned bin.
- SKU: Verifies the LPN contains the required product.
- Lot: Ensures the inventory matches the specific lot required for the order.
There are two ways to start the picking of an LPN:
Scan the LPN first (Direct Scan): Scanning a valid LPN immediately opens the Picking from LPN screen. The system identifies the LPN-ID to confirm the item, lot, and location in one step.

Smart Logic for Item Scanning: If an operator scans an Item barcode instead of an LPN barcode within a location, the system applies the following logic to maintain inventory accuracy:
If Loose Inventory exists: The system directs the operator to pick the non-LPNed (loose) items first to clear that stock and assign them to an LPN.

Picking LPNs in the Mobile Picking and Packing Workflow
The Picking and Packing flow allows a user to scan an LPN and have it automatically transferred to the staging location and displayed in the Packing Layout
Start Picking: Navigate to the Wholesale order requirements (e.g., 2500 units of SKU-A).
Scan LPN: Scan a full Pallet or Carton LPN.
System Validation: System validates location, lot, and SKU match.
Execute Movement: * For full quantities, the inventory remains in the source LPN and the entire LPN moves to Staging.
For partial quantities (e.g., picking 500 from a 1000-unit LPN), units are being picked FROM the scanned lpn and transferred to the staging location/LPN as specified.
