Once Location Aware Picking is active on your account, it adds a set of manager settings, dashboards, and picker mobile features on top of your existing MIB/SIB picking flow. This article covers what's available and where to find it.
For an overview of Location Aware Picking, see Overview: Location Aware Picking in ShipHero. For setup help, see How to Get Started with Location Aware Picking.

Location Aware Picking Batch Settings
With your direction, ShipHero's team configures the following settings for the Loaction Aware batch process:
- Batch size for each order status and tag combination
- Depot location, the start and end point for pick routes
- Choose which order statuses and tags route through Location Aware Picking
- ShipHero generates only one batch per warehouse configuration at a time. Batches requested within about 5 minutes of each other can produce less efficient results.
- Batching can take over a minute to compute in warehouses with 1,000 or more pick slots per batch.
Location Aware Picking Live Pickers Dashboard
The Live Pickers Dashboard shows a real-time map of picker positions and assignments across the warehouse floor. Floor managers can use it to spot bottlenecks or idle pickers without walking the floor.
Click into the Workers Picking module to see the full list of workers and the time counter since their last pick. Click a picker's name to see their picking progress, including:
- Visited locations, for example 4 of 5
- Batch type, such as Multi-Item Batch
- Total orders and total items
- Start time and completed time
- The picker's completed picking path

Location Aware Picking and the Picker Performance Dashboard
Location Aware Picking is required for the Picker Performance Dashboard, since the dashboard needs your warehouse's mapped distances to calculate each picker's expected batch time. The dashboard also requires Workforce Hero to already be active. ShipHero recommends enabling Workforce Hero and letting it run for 2-4 weeks before turning on the Picker Performance Dashboard, so the scoring model has enough picking history to generate accurate scores.
- Scores show N/A when a batch is too short, has too few locations, or has too many unmapped locations.
- Productivity above 100% is a known display issue related to how Workforce Hero merges time events, not a configuration error on your account.
For a full breakdown of the scoring methodology, see Overview: Picker Performance Dashboard. For dashboard navigation, filters, and column definitions, see How to Use the Picker Performance Dashboard.
Location Aware Picking on the Picker Mobile App
With Location Aware Picking enabled, pickers see a map view with a highlighted path to their next pick location, which updates after each pick. This map view layers on top of the standard card-based pick list already available in the ShipHero mobile app.
Location Aware Picking also supports an optional Scan Location First mode, which requires pickers to scan the location barcode before picking to prevent mis-picks from the wrong bin.
When a picker marks a location as empty or reports a problem with it during a Location Aware Picking batch, ShipHero reassigns the affected item to an alternate location for the rest of that batch using the same Hospital Location feature used elsewhere in ShipHero mobile.
