Once a cycle count is created, ShipHero tracks it from the Cycle Count dashboard until it closes. This guide covers cycle count statuses, viewing count details, and resolving a batch that will not close.
Haven't created a cycle count yet? See How to Create a Cycle Count in ShipHero. For an overview of cycle counting, see Understanding Cycle Counting in ShipHero.

Cycle Count Statuses in ShipHero
Track all of your cycle counts from the dashboard. ShipHero lists the cycle type beneath the count name in the Cycle Count column.
Each cycle count shows one of the following statuses:
- Processing - a cycle count created via the API is being processed by ShipHero.
- Pending - the count has not started yet.
- In Progress - the count is actively being worked.
- Closed - the count is complete.
While a cycle count is In Progress, the location being counted becomes unpickable until the count is complete.
When you create multiple cycle counts at once, ShipHero may briefly show a Processing status while it finishes loading them. This usually lasts only a few seconds and never longer than a minute. For most accounts, counts load quickly enough that this status never appears.
The dashboard also tracks the due date, assigned user, progress percentage, and any discrepancies for each count.
Viewing Cycle Count Details in ShipHero
Selecting an Items type cycle count shows the SKUs included in that cycle:
You can add items to a cycle and remove items that have not been counted yet. Once an item is assigned to a counter, you cannot remove it from the cycle.
An Items Flagged for Recount cycle looks similar to an Items cycle, but also shows the user who counted last so you can assign a different user.
Selecting a Locations type cycle count shows which locations are part of the cycle, along with all SKUs in each bin:
Other details available for any cycle count include:
- Expected quantities
- Counted quantities
- Which user counted the item
- Time tracked
Use the Export CSV button to download cycle count details for reporting or analysis.
If a count comes back with a discrepancy, ShipHero may flag the SKU for a recount. See Understanding Cycle Count Recounts for how recounts work.
Editing and Ending a Cycle Count in ShipHero
You can edit the name and due date for a cycle count:
To end a cycle count at any time, click End Cycle Count in the upper right corner of the screen.
ShipHero saves the inventory total from the cycle count once the count is complete.
Cycle Count Batch Does Not Close
When a cycle count batch will not close in ShipHero, one or more locations in the batch are usually locked. Open the batch and check whether any locations appear grayed out.
If locations are locked, check the boxes next to them. A Remove Lock option appears at the top of the table.
How to Monitor Inventory Updates During a Cycle Count
ShipHero logs inventory updates from a cycle count in two places.
First, in the product's Inventory Log:
Second, in the Inventory Change Log:
