How to Separate eComm Inventory from Shopify POS Inventory in ShipHero

Separating Shopify POS inventory from ecommerce inventory gives each retail location and ecommerce warehouse its own inventory quantity. Create matching Shopify locations and ShipHero warehouses, map them, and load inventory into the warehouse that supplies each location.

Before You Begin

Connect your Shopify store to ShipHero and create the Shopify POS locations before you create the matching ShipHero warehouses. Make sure the products sold through Shopify POS have matching SKUs in Shopify and ShipHero.

For an overview of the available Shopify POS inventory models, see Overview: Shopify POS Inventory Setups in ShipHero.

How to Create ShipHero Warehouses for Shopify POS Locations

Create a ShipHero warehouse for each Shopify POS location before mapping the locations.

  1. Go to My Account > Warehouses.
  2. Select Add a Warehouse.
  3. Select Default in the Profile drop-down.
  4. Enter a warehouse name that matches the related Shopify location.
  5. Enter the POS warehouse address so it matches the Shopify location address.

How to Map Shopify POS Locations to ShipHero Warehouses

Map each Shopify POS location to the ShipHero warehouse that supplies it so inventory pushes to the correct store.

  1. Go to My Account > Stores and select the Settings button for your Shopify store.
  2. Select the Locations tab.
  3. Find the Shopify POS location you want to configure.
  4. Select Push from specific warehouse.
  5. Select the ShipHero warehouse that corresponds to the Shopify POS location.
  6. Select Update to save the mapping.

If the Shopify POS location does not appear, select Sync locations from Shopify. See How to Manage Shopify Locations in ShipHero.

How to Configure the Default Inventory Bin Across Multiple Shopify POS Warehouses

When multiple Shopify POS locations in the same account use a Default Inventory Bin, use exactly the same bin name in every ShipHero warehouse mapped to a Shopify POS location.

The Default Inventory Bin does not need to be sellable for ShipHero to reduce inventory after a Shopify POS sale. The bin must be sellable for ShipHero to push inventory to Shopify.

When the account does not use a Default Inventory Bin, ShipHero reduces inventory from any location in the mapped warehouse.

When the mapped warehouse has no sellable location, inventory does not push to the Shopify POS location.

How to Add Inventory to a Shopify POS Warehouse

Use a purchase order, a transfer order, or an inventory upload to add products to the warehouse mapped to the Shopify POS location. Store inventory in a sellable location when ShipHero must push the quantity to Shopify.
