Shopify POS connects in-store sales to ShipHero so inventory can stay accurate across retail and ecommerce operations. Choose the inventory model that matches how your business stores and replenishes products.
Before You Begin
Connect your Shopify store to ShipHero and create the POS location in Shopify. Make sure the products sold through Shopify POS have matching SKUs in Shopify and ShipHero.
RecommendedTesting: Test the entire process with a few products before a large-scale transfer.

Shopify POS Inventory Requirements by Account Type
The If POS Remove Inventory setting is enabled by default for all accounts. It controls whether Shopify POS transactions reduce inventory in ShipHero. If you would like this setting turned off please contact the ShipHero Support team.
Brand accounts: ShipHero reduces inventory for Shopify POS transactions by default and configuring a Default Inventory Bin is recommended.
3PL Client accounts: Enable Remove stock in ShipHero for fulfillments created in Shopify and not ShipHero for the Shopify store. Configure a Default Inventory Bin for the child account.
How the Default Inventory Bin Affects Shopify POS Inventory
ShipHero recommends configuring a Default Inventory Bin for every Shopify POS setup. Only one Default Inventory Bin can be configured per account. The bin does not need to be sellable for ShipHero to reduce inventory, but it must be sellable for ShipHero to push inventory to Shopify.
- Brand accounts: When the Default Inventory Bin does not contain the SKU sold through Shopify POS, ShipHero reduces inventory from any sellable bin that contains the SKU.
- 3PL Client accounts: When the Default Inventory Bin does not contain the SKU sold through Shopify POS, ShipHero does not remove inventory.
- Separate Shopify POS locations: Use the same Default Inventory Bin name across all mapped warehouses.
- Accounts without a Default Inventory Bin: ShipHero reduces inventory from any location in the mapped warehouse.
How the Default Inventory Bin Pickability Affects Ecommerce Picking
Choose whether ecommerce orders and mobile batches can use the Default Inventory Bin based on how you want ShipHero to prioritize inventory.
Keep Shopify POS Inventory Non-Pickable
Keep the Default Inventory Bin non-pickable when ecommerce orders and mobile batches should never be fulfilled from the configured Default Inventory Bin.
- Set the Default Inventory Bin location to non-pickable.
- Because the location is non-pickable, ecommerce orders and mobile batches will not be fulfilled from it. If all inventory for a SKU is in a non-pickable location, an ecommerce order can show Ready to Pick: No and the SKU can appear on the needs replenishment report. See Replenishment for more information.
Keep Shopify POS Inventory Pickable but Deprioritized
Keep the Default Inventory Bin pickable when ecommerce orders and mobile batches can use that inventory, but send pickers to other pickable locations first.
- Use a name such as ZZZ-Storefront so the location appears last in mobile picking batches.
- Set a higher integer in Pick Priority when you want pickers to use other pickable locations first when processing ecommerce orders.
How Shopify POS Returns and Exchanges Affect Inventory
When a customer return is processed in Shopify POS and the return is marked for restocking, ShipHero adds the inventory back to the configured Default Returns Bin. Contact ShipHero Support to configure the bin. Shopify POS exchanges do not update ShipHero inventory because exchanges use a different webhook that is not configured.
