The Sorter Performance Dashboard shows how much sorting work each worker completes, how fast they work, and how often their container scans fail. Use it to compare sorters, spot slow or error-prone sorting, and plan training.
The dashboard refreshes every 20 minutes, so newly scanned packages can take longer to appear. It is not a live, scan-by-scan monitor. The Last update time at the top right of the page shows when the data last refreshed.
Go to Workforce Hero > Performance and select the Sorters tab, next to the Packers and Pickers tabs.
The Performance Dashboard also has tabs for packers and pickers. See Overview: ShipHero Packer Performance Dashboard and Overview: Picker Performance Dashboard.

How the Sorter Performance Dashboard Counts Completed Sorts
The Sorter Performance Dashboard builds its numbers from two scans: the package label scan and the container scan. A sort starts with the package label scan and is complete when a container scan succeeds. A rejected container scan can be retried. It does not mean the package can never be sorted.
| What happens | How the dashboard counts it |
|---|---|
| A container scan fails, then a later scan succeeds | The sort is complete. Its time and scan attempts count toward the worker's numbers. |
| No container scan succeeds | The sort is incomplete and does not appear in the dashboard. It can appear later if a matching successful scan is processed. |
| A package is sorted again | Each completed sort counts, even for the same package. |
Understanding the Sorter Performance Score
The Sorter Performance Score rates a worker's sorting speed from 0 to 10 compared with your own warehouse's history. A higher score means faster sorting. A score near 5 is the historical middle for a single sort.
- The score is relative to your warehouse. It is not a universal productivity target.
- ShipHero compares each completed sort with your warehouse's history. The worker's score averages those individual scores, so it does not always move in step with average time per package.
- N/A means there is not enough suitable information to calculate the score or metric. Packages sorted and recorded time can still appear.
- The warehouse history that the score is compared against updates weekly.
How Recorded Time and Packages per Recorded Hour Are Calculated in the Sorter Performance Dashboard
Recorded time measures the work between packages as well as the scans. A worker scans a package, scans its container 12 seconds later, and scans the next package 5 seconds after that. That first sort adds 17 seconds of recorded time.
A worker who completes 300 sorts in 2 recorded hours has 150 packages per recorded hour and an average of 24 seconds per package.
Recorded time is not the worker's full shift or clock-in time. A long gap between sorts does not always mean the worker took a break.
Sorter Performance Dashboard Filters
Use the filters at the top of the Sorter Performance Dashboard to choose which workers and dates to review.
| Filter | Description |
|---|---|
| Position | Show workers with a specific position. Position is the worker's current position, set in their user settings. |
| Team members | Select specific workers to view. |
| Shift | Show workers on a specific shift. Shift is the worker's current shift. |
| Date | Choose the dates to review. Dates use the warehouse's timezone and include both the start day and the end day. The dashboard opens on Today. |
ShipHero includes a sort in the period when its package label scan started, and counts the full recorded time for that sort.
Sorter Performance Dashboard Columns Defined
The Sorter Performance Dashboard table has one row for each worker and one column for each measure of their sorting. A worker appears only when they have completed sorts that match your filters. Workers are listed alphabetically by name, and you can use Search by worker name to find one.
To show or hide a column, select Columns above the table and check or uncheck it. The Shift column is hidden until you check it. To download the table, select Export, then Visible rows to CSV. ShipHero downloads only the rows currently shown, based on your active filters.
| Column | Description |
|---|---|
| Worker | The sorter's name. |
| Position | The worker's current position, set in their user settings. |
| Shift | The worker's current shift. Hidden until you check it in the Columns menu. |
| Packages sorted | Completed sorts in the selected period. When a worker sorts the same package again, each completed sort counts separately. |
| Containers | The number of different containers this worker sorted packages into. A container that several workers use counts toward each worker. |
| Recorded time | Total sorting time, including the gap between one package and the next. When the gap is missing or longer than 5 minutes, ShipHero counts 4 seconds for it. |
| Packages per recorded hour | Packages sorted for each hour of recorded time. |
| Average time per package | The average time to sort one package and move on to the next. |
| Failed scans % | The percentage of container scans that ShipHero rejected during completed sorts. Scans from incomplete sorts are not counted. |
| Score | Sorting speed compared with your warehouse's own history, from 0 to 10. A higher score is faster. |
