During the receiving process, you can add lot and expiration dates to products, as long as Lot & Expiration Date tracking is enabled for that SKU. Follow the steps below to add this information during receiving.
For more on setting up and managing lots, see Getting Started with Lots and Expirations and How to Create and Manage Lots and Expirations.
How to Receive Products with Lots
- Go to the Purchase Orders page and select the PO you want to receive.
- Click the Receiving Page button in the top right corner.
- Scan the SKU barcode or click the Accepted column for that product.
- In the window that opens, select or add a Lot, enter the quantity being received, and select or scan the location.
Important Note
Each location can only have one lot code or expiration date per SKU. Receiving a different lot into a location that already has inventory for another lot will return an error, e.g., Cannot use Lot Test 2 for SKU glass-globe and location A-01-100 since there's still inventory with lot Test 3. This restriction prevents picking errors.
Enable Needs Lot Tracking while Receiving
If you forgot to enable Needs Lot Tracking before processing a purchase order, select the Activate Lot link to open the product details page and enable the setting.
Print Product Barcodes with Lots while Receiving
Hover over a lot in the receiving window and click Print to print a product barcode with that lot's information, without leaving the screen. This is especially useful when the Print Barcode webhook is configured, since the webhook payload includes the lot and expiration details for accurate label printing.
