Some 3PLs (Third-Party Logistics providers) have multiple warehouses strategically placed across the country or even the world. This helps them reduce carrier costs, improve delivery speeds (SLAs), and offer more services to their clients. This guide shows you how to add a warehouse to your 3PL client's account so you can manage their inventory and fulfill orders from these different locations.
Before You Begin Essentials
Before you can add a new warehouse for your client, make sure the following are already set up:
- The client must have an active account and be visible on the 3PL Customer page. If they were previously removed, you'll need to contact support to reactivate them. For help, see: How to invite a customer
- A billing profile needs to be associated with the client on the 3PL Billing page. This is required even if you don't use ShipHero's 3PL Billing tool. For the simplest setup, just create a profile and don't add any fees to it. For help, see: How to Create a 3PL Client Billing Profile
- The new warehouse must already be created in ShipHero. For help, see: How to Set Up Multiple Warehouses.
Adding a Warehouse to Your Client
Once these prerequisites are met, follow these steps to add the warehouse to your client's account through the 3PL Billing page:
- Navigate to the Customer tab.
- Choose the customer you want to invite to a warehouse.
- Click the Add button under the warehouse's settings.
- Select the specific warehouse you want to add.
- Type in the customer’s Account Name.
- Hit Save.
Next Steps: Post-Setup Configuration
Now that the warehouse is linked to your client's account, it's a good idea to review their account and store settings to make sure everything is configured correctly. Refer to the articles below for more details:
