Ships Alone is a product setting that tells ShipHero that a product should be broken out of the order so it can be picked and packed by itself. This is great for products that can be shipped in their original packaging where a label needs to be slapped on the box or if there are orders containing oversized items that require additional assistance from another member of the team (two-man lift, forklift required, etc.)
Here is an example of when the Ships Alone feature is useful.
An order comes in for a large desk, a keyboard, and a mouse. Without the Ships Alone setting enabled, the ShipHero Application would place all three items to pick together. The picker picks the mouse and keyboard from their bins, but they would need to find someone to get the desk from a pallet or large storage area.
With the Ships Alone feature enabled on the desk SKU, the desk will be set to ship separately, allowing the mouse and keyboard to be processed through the standard picking and packing flows and the desk to be processed separately.
This is especially helpful if many orders for the desk need to be processed. The team can process this SKU as a Single Item Batch and allocate resources accordingly.
