The Needs Replenishment Report helps you know which products need more stock in their pickable locations. Once you have this report, you can transfer the necessary inventory using the mobile app or dashboard. Products are added to the Needs Replenishment Report in two ways:
- Not enough pickable inventory for allocated orders.
- Pickable inventory drops below the Replenishment Level. The Replenishment Level is the total minimum number of units you want to have for a product across all your pickable locations combined, not the minimum for each individual location.
IMPORTANT NOTE:The Needs Replenishment Report does not take into account the Replenishment Min/Max and Replenishment Increment levels. These settings are only caluclated in the Mobile Replenishment flow and will cause the two reports to show different quantities that need to be replenished.
Understanding the Columns on the Needs Replenishment Report
- On Hand: The total amount of this product stored in sellable locations.
- Allocated: The amount of this product that is currently allocated to orders.
- Replenishment Level: The minimum quantity you want to keep in your pickable locations.
- Available in Pickable Locations: The total amount of this product stored in pickable locations.
- Orders needing this: The number of customer orders that include this specific product. Knowing this helps you prioritize which replenishments will help fulfill the most orders.
- QTY Needed from Non-pickable locations: The amount of this product you need to move from non-pickable locations to pickable locations. This could be to fulfill current orders, to reach your Replenishment Level, or a combination of both.
- Top 3 Non-Pickable Locations: The three non-pickable locations with the highest quantity of this product. Locations marked as non-sellable will not be listed here.
Best Practice: It's recommended to check this report at least once a day, ideally in the morning. This helps you identify any inventory that needs to be moved to pickable locations to fulfill the day's orders. Checking it throughout the day can also prevent order delays due to insufficient pickable inventory.
For Flash Sales: If you're running a high-volume sale, like a flash sale, it's important to monitor this report closely to track how orders are being assigned and ensure you have enough pickable stock. You can find more information on managing inventory during high-velocity sales in this article.
Transfer Locations and the Replenishment Report
Locations marked as "transfer locations" are excluded from the replenishment report.
A transfer location is a temporary holding area for inventory before it's moved to a pickable location. This is useful when replenishing because you can first move inventory from a non-pickable overstock location to a transfer location (like a cart or a pallet). Then, you can use a process like putaway to move the inventory from the transfer location to the final pickable location.
To designate a location as a "transfer location", you can enable this setting on the locations page.
