How to Pack a Freight Wholesale Order

Once all inventory has been picked, the order moves to Packing status and the Packing Layout opens automatically. This article covers the packing process for Freight wholesale orders, where all inventory is packed onto pallets.

Before You Begin

  • Packer Notes: If the order has packer notes, a notes icon will be visible in the Packing Layout. Click it to open the instructions modal, which can also be printed.

  • Items Unpacked List: This list shows quantities and UOMs of products not yet packed from the staging location, along with the LPNs they are associated with.

For container management — adding, deleting, duplicating, moving containers, editing quantities, and lot-controlled SKU rules — see Understanding Containers in the Wholesale Packing Flows. For courier packing, see How to Pack a Courier Wholesale Order.

Starting the Freight Order Packing Layout

When the Packing Layout opens for a Freight order, click Create a pallet. You will be prompted to choose the number of pallets and their type. Containers are assigned an ID and LPN automatically — print and apply these LPNs to the pallets for tracking.

How to Add Products to a Freight Pallet

After creating pallet containers, use the (+) icon to add products. There are three options:

Option What It Does
One SKU per container Nests a box onto the pallet. See Option 1: One SKU per container for configuration steps.
Multiple SKUs per container Nests a box onto the pallet with multiple SKUs. See Option 2: Multiple SKUs in the same container for configuration steps.
In the current package Packs products directly onto the pallet without a box. Choose the quantity of each SKU to pack and click Save. Packing instructions appear after saving.

Packing Directly onto a Pallet (In the Current Package)

Choose the quantity of each selected SKU to pack directly onto the pallet. You will see how many units are available to pack. Click Save — packing instructions appear to guide correct placement.

When all products are packed, the status pill updates to All items packed. Click Set as packing Complete to move the order to Packed status.

Editing the Packing Layout After a Freight Order is Packed

Click Edit Packing Layout to return the order to Packing status and re-enable all packing operations. Make your changes and click Set as packing Complete when done.

Important

Changing the packing layout requires reprinting Packing Slips and Bills of Lading.
