ShipHero's location properties allow you to store inventory in non-pickable locations such as overstock bins, pallets, and staging areas. For an order to be pickable, all required inventory must be in a pickable location. If pickable locations do not have enough inventory, the order status will show Is Pickable: No.
| Location Type | Description | Orders pick from here? |
|---|---|---|
| Pickable | Easy-access locations along the pick path. Inventory here is available for order fulfillment. | Yes |
| Non-pickable | Overstock, pallet, or staging locations. Inventory here must be replenished to a pickable location before orders can be fulfilled. | No |

What to Do When an Order Is Not Pickable
On the Manage Orders page, view the Is Pickable status column to identify affected orders.
If an order shows Is Pickable: No, check your replenishment report and move inventory from a non-pickable location to a pickable one. See Needs Replenishment Report for more information.
Questions About Pickable Status
Why is my order status "Ready to Ship: Yes" but "Pickable: No"?
The Ready to Ship status does not account for whether inventory is in a pickable location. It only checks criteria such as whether inventory is in stock and whether the order has any address or fraud holds. Because of this distinction, an order can be marked Ready to Ship: Yes and Pickable: No at the same time.
Does "not pickable" mean my inventory is out of stock?
Not necessarily. If an item is out of stock there will be none in a pickable location and the order will be not pickable — but the SKU will also show as backordered on the order. However, you can have a SKU with inventory available only in a non-pickable location that needs to be moved. In this case the SKU will not show as backordered, but the order will still be not pickable until the inventory is replenished to a pickable location.
Will a non-pickable order show in a multi-item batch on the mobile app?
No. The order will not appear for pickers in the mobile app until the SKU is replenished to a pickable location.
I have stock in a pickable location — why is my order still not pickable?
The most likely cause is that other orders have already been allocated to the inventory in that location. Inventory is reserved for an order until it ships or is moved, so a location can show available stock that is already committed to a different batch.
Important
LPNs cannot be added to pickable locations. LPN inventory must be stored in non-pickable locations such as overstock or staging locations. To make LPN inventory available for standard order picking, unpack the LPN into a pickable location using How to Unpack Items from an LPN Using ShipHero Mobile.
Example: You have 3 hats in pickable bin A-01 and three orders:
| Order | Quantity |
|---|---|
| M01 | 1 hat |
| M02 | 2 hats |
| M03 | 1 hat |
3 hats in stock covers M01 + M02 but not all 4 needed across all three orders. Once any two orders are batched, the third becomes not pickable regardless of pick priority — in all cases, replenishment is required before the remaining order can be fulfilled.
