A workflow is a sequence of stops that orders pass through before they ship. Each stop is assigned to one or more workstations — physical devices in your warehouse such as a packing or scanning station. Workers visit each stop in order and follow any instructions assigned to that stop.
Before You Begin
Each workstation must be registered in ShipHero before it can be assigned to a workflow. See How to Set Up a Workstation in ShipHero to register your devices. Once your workstations are set up, return here to build your workflow.
For an overview of how workflows fit into the ShipHero order process, see Overview: Workflows in ShipHero.

Workflow Stop Rules in ShipHero
| Rule | Detail |
|---|---|
| Workstation required | Every stop must have at least one workstation assigned before the workflow can be saved. |
| No duplicate workstations | The same workstation cannot appear in two different stops within the same workflow. |
| Stop order enforced | Workers must complete stops in sequential order — 1st stop, then 2nd, and so on. |
| Multiple workstations per stop | When a stop has more than one workstation assigned, workers choose which one to visit. |
| Instructions are optional | Stop instructions are not required and are limited to 200 characters. |
Where to Print Workstation Barcodes in ShipHero
Workers scan workstation barcodes to confirm their location at each workflow stop. Print barcodes for your workstations from Inventory > Products > Print Custom Tag.
How Workflow Barcode Scanning Works in ShipHero
The barcode you print must match the station name set up in your workflow. ShipHero ignores spaces and capitalization when matching — "Station A", "station a", and "StationA" all resolve to the same station. Only the letters and numbers need to match.
When all items in a batch have been picked and a workflow is active, the mobile app displays a Scan Workflow Station to complete prompt along with a list of valid station names for that stop. Scan the barcode on your physical workstation to confirm the drop-off location and complete the step.
