Each team member requires a user to access ShipHero platforms and mobile applications. As a best practice, we recommend that every team member has a unique user and not share user credentials. Users can have unique settings and be assigned different permissions and roles when created in ShipHero. This article covers:
Additional User Settings for 3PLs
Receiving an error when trying to create a new user? You may need to increase the number of seats for your account. To do this, go to app.Shiphero.com > My Account > Billing and adjust as needed. The user adjusting must have permission to access the Billing page. If users are deactivated, this setting will not automatically be adjusted and must be toggled back down as needed.
If your account has reached the limit of users that can be added via the Billing page, please contact ShipHero Support for assistance.
How to Create a User
- Go to shipping.shiphero.com > open the Left Side Panel > click on Users & Roles.
- Navigate to the Users tab and click the Create User button.
- Fill in the user information; all fields marked with an asterisk are required. Select the Continue button.
- Check the boxes next to each App Setting that is required for the user and click the Continue button.
- Check the box next to the Role(s) that apply to the user or close the window if a role will be assigned later.
NOTE: In this step, the option to create a new user role is also available. To do this, click on the Create Role button. Check out the following article to learn more about Creating and Managing User Roles.
How to Create an Admin User
A user assigned the admin role has full system permissions, including creating new roles and changing permissions for other users. The admin role is built into ShipHero and cannot be changed or deleted, so it does not appear listed with custom roles on the Roles tab.
To enable the Admin permissions for a user, toggle on the Admin button as shown below and hit Save.
As a best practice, remove any additional roles assigned to an Admin user, as any limitations set by those roles will be overwritten anyway. Check out the following article for more information on managing user roles.
Additional User Settings for 3PLs
The 3PL user will have access to the 3PL dashboard, the customers, and the warehouse assigned to the user. The 3PL client user will only have access to their dashboard.
The process of adding a user to the 3PL or 3PL client account is the same as above, but you will select where the user will be added.
- On the Users page, select if the user will be assigned to the 3PL or 3PL client account by using the dropdown and then click the Create User button.
