This article covers how to resolve errors and failures that occur during Bulk Ship batch generation and label processing. For a full walkthrough of the Bulk Ship workflow, see How to Process Orders via Bulk Ship.
Why Do Bulk Ship Batch Errors Occur?
Batch processing errors typically fall into one of four categories:
- Order data issues — incomplete or incorrect information such as a missing or invalid shipping address.
- Inventory or warehouse discrepancies — the selected location does not have sufficient sellable inventory.
- Connectivity issues — an unstable internet connection interrupted the label generation request.
- Individual order blocks — a single order in the batch was canceled, put on hold, or had its label voided, blocking the rest of the batch.
General Bulk Ship Troubleshooting Steps
When a batch fails to generate or gets stuck, try reprocessing it first. If that does not resolve the issue:
-
Batch stuck in "Generating Labels" status:
- Refresh the page and wait 1–2 minutes.
- Check your internet connection.
- Confirm all orders in the batch have valid shipping methods and addresses.
- If still stuck after 15 minutes, contact ShipHero Support with your batch number.
-
Reprocessing fails repeatedly:
- Break the batch into smaller groups to isolate the problematic order(s).
- Identify and resolve the issue on the specific order, then reprocess.
Contact ShipHero Support if you experience repeated failures, a batch stuck in "Generating" for over 15 minutes, or recurring errors after reprocessing. Have your batch number ready to expedite the process.
Bulk Ship Error Messages and How to Resolve Them
"An error occurred while trying to generate labels"
The carrier returned an error when ShipHero attempted to create the label. This is usually caused by an invalid address, unsupported service type, or missing order data.
To resolve:
- Hover over the Label icon in the Label Summary to read the specific carrier error message.
- Open the individual order and correct the issue (e.g., fix the shipping address or select a different shipping method).
- Return to the batch and click Reprocess labels, or check the box next to the order and click Remove from suggestion to remove it and process it separately.
"The batch has orders on hold or canceled and that is blocking the process"
An order in the batch was canceled or placed on hold after the batch was created, which prevents the remaining orders from completing.
To resolve:
- In the Label Summary, identify which orders are on hold or canceled.
- Either resolve the hold or cancellation on each affected order, or check the box next to those orders and click Remove from suggestion to remove them from the batch.
- Click Reprocess labels to continue with the remaining orders.
"Some orders have voided labels"
One or more labels in the batch were voided after generation. The batch cannot complete until these are resolved.
To resolve:
- Click Reprocess labels to generate new labels for the affected orders, or
- Check the box next to the voided orders and click Remove from suggestion to remove them from the batch and process them separately.
"Multi box pricing is not available with this shipping method"
Bulk Ship does not support the "Cheapest" or rate-shopped shipping methods for multi-package orders. This error appears when a multi-box order has one of these methods selected.
To resolve:
- Check the box next to the affected order and click Edit shipping method.
- Select a specific carrier service (not "Cheapest") that supports multi-package shipments.
- Click Reprocess labels.
How to Void and Reship a Bulk Ship Batch
If you need to void all labels in a batch and start over — for example, if a shipment was never picked up and labels have expired — you can void and reship the entire batch at once.
- Select all labels in the batch.
- Click the Void Label button.
- ShipHero automatically voids the shipping labels and sets the order back to a pending status to be reshipped; allowing you to generate new labels.
