How to View LPN Details in the Mobile App

The Mobile LPN Viewer lets you check the status, location, contents, nested containers, and activity history of any LPN from your mobile device. An LPN (License Plate Number) is a barcode ShipHero assigns to a container, such as a pallet or box, to track everything inside it as it moves through the warehouse.

Before You Begin

Make sure that:

  • The user is signed in to the correct warehouse and the user's role has access to the Mobile LPN Viewer.
  • The LPN barcode is available and readable.
  • Your mobile device and paired barcode scanner are ready to scan.

Mobile LPN Viewer Content Summary

The Content section gives you a quick summary of the inventory associated with the LPN:

Field Description
Total units in LPN The total number of units associated with the LPN, including loose items and inventory inside nested LPNs.
Loose units Units stored directly in the selected LPN rather than inside another LPN.
Nested LPNs The number of child LPNs contained inside the selected LPN.

Mobile LPN Viewer Loose Items

The Loose items section lists inventory stored directly in the LPN. Each entry includes:

Field Description
Product name The name of the item stored in the LPN.
SKU The item's unique identifier.
Unit of measure How the item is counted, for example each, case, or pallet.
Lot The lot number assigned to the item, shown when lot tracking is enabled for the SKU.
Quantity in the LPN The number of units of that item stored in the LPN.

When the LPN does not contain any loose inventory, the app displays No loose items in this LPN.

Mobile LPN Viewer Nested LPNs

The Nested LPNs section lists any cartons or other child LPNs contained inside the selected LPN. The app shows the identifier and unit quantity for each nested LPN.

When the selected LPN does not contain any child containers, the app displays No nested LPNs in this LPN.

Mobile LPN Viewer Timeline

Scroll to the Timeline section to review the LPN's history. Depending on the activity performed, the timeline shows:

Activity What It Shows
Barcode printing When the LPN barcode was printed.
Inventory added or removed When units were added to or removed from the LPN.
Location movements When the LPN moved to a different location.
Nesting or unnesting activity When the LPN was nested inside, or removed from, another LPN.
User The user who performed the action.
Date The date the action occurred.

Use the timeline to investigate why an LPN is empty, why its location changed, or when its inventory was adjusted.

Mobile LPN Viewer Troubleshooting

Use this table to resolve common Mobile LPN Viewer issues.

Issue What to Do
LPN barcode does not scan Confirm you are scanning an LPN barcode, not an item or location barcode. Make sure the label is flat, unobstructed, and within the scanner's reading range. For a paired scanner, verify it is connected to the mobile device.
LPN total doesn't match the loose-item quantity Check the Nested LPNs section. The total includes both units stored directly in the LPN and units contained in its child LPNs.
Mobile LPN Viewer is not available in the menu Access depends on the mobile app version, warehouse configuration, and user permissions. Contact your administrator if the option isn't visible.
