Overview: Staging Locations Report

The Staging Locations Report gives you a single, centralized view of every location marked as Staging in your warehouse. A staging location is the designated area in your warehouse where picked inventory is moved and consolidated before it is packed and shipped. It can be assigned to a single order or to a consolidation, which groups multiple orders together at one staging location so they can be packed and shipped as one shipment.

To  access the Staging locations report, go to Wholesale > Staging Locations Report.

Staging Locations Report Use Cases

  • Find free staging space: Filter by Available to see which locations are open for a new assignment.
  • Clear staging: Filter by Ready to put away, click Yes in the Inventory column to open the Items Locations report, and put the remaining inventory away.
  • Trace an order: Search by order ID to see which staging location it occupies, then click the order link to open it directly.

For the rules on assigning and creating staging locations, see How to Assign a Staging Location to a Wholesale Order.

How to Search and Filter the Staging Locations Report

Use the filters and search in the Staging Locations Report to narrow the page results.

  • Search by staging location name or by order ID using the search bar.
  • Filter by status using the Status dropdown to narrow the list to Available, In Use, or Ready to put away locations.

Staging Locations Report Statuses

The status shown in the report isn't a stored flag. ShipHero recalculates it based on the location's current assignment and inventory. These statuses are Available, In Use, Ready to put away, and Hospital.

Status What It Means
Available The staging location is free and can be assigned to a new order or consolidation.
In Use The staging location is currently assigned to an order or consolidation.
Ready to put away The location is no longer assigned to any order or consolidation, but it still holds inventory. That inventory must be transferred out before the location returns to Available.
Hospital The location was marked as Hospital during a re-pick. This can happen when a user resets an order that already had inventory picked, which triggers a re-pick of the staging location. The location holds inventory tied to that exception and stays unavailable until it is resolved. See Using the Hospital Flag While Picking Wholesale Orders and Using the Hospital Location Feature in the Mobile App.

Ready to put away is the key troubleshooting signal in the Staging Locations Report. It surfaces staging locations that are silently stuck holding stock.

Staging Locations Report Columns Defined

The Staging Locations Report lists every location flagged as Staging. Each row contains four columns.

Column Description
Staging location The name of the staging location.
Status A dynamically calculated state. See Staging Locations Report Status Values above.
Order ID / Consolidation The order or consolidation currently associated with the location, if any. When a value is present, click the hyperlink to open the corresponding order or consolidation.
Inventory Shows whether the staging location currently holds inventory. A Yes link opens the Items Locations report, pre-filtered to that staging location, so you can inspect the exact inventory or LPNs in that location.
