How to Add Accessorial Charges to an Inbound Shipment in 3PL Billing Alpha

An accessorial charge bills for work that ShipHero cannot count on its own, such as pallet wrapping or re-labeling. Someone on your team enters the quantity while they work the inbound shipment, and ShipHero turns that quantity into a charge when the shipment closes. Accessorial quantities can be entered on desktop or in ShipHero Mobile. Accessorial charges on wholesale orders are entered separately.

Before You Begin

  • Accessorial rate: Assign an accessorial rate for the Inbound shipments transaction type to the client. Without one, there is no rate to add a quantity to.

How to Enter Accessorial Quantities on Desktop in 3PL Billing Alpha

  1. Open the inbound shipment.
  2. Go to the Accessorial charges tab.
  3. Select Add on the rate you want to record. ShipHero adds a quantity line under your name.
  4. Enter the quantity.

Each person who enters a quantity gets their own line item, so the Accessorial charges tab shows every quantity entered by every worker on that shipment. To change a quantity you already entered, select the quantity on your line and enter the new value.

How to Enter Accessorial Quantities in ShipHero Mobile in 3PL Billing Alpha

How Required Accessorial Entries Affect Closing an Inbound Shipment in 3PL Billing Alpha

ShipHero shows the accessorial screen every time someone completes an inbound shipment, whether or not any quantities have been entered.

Rate setting What happens when you complete the inbound shipment
Entry not required The accessorial screen appears with a blank quantity. You can close the shipment without entering anything.
Entry required The accessorial screen appears and blocks the shipment from closing until a quantity is entered.

Quantities default to blank rather than zero. When a rate requires an entry, zero is an acceptable quantity, so your team can confirm that no accessorial work happened rather than skipping the rate entirely.

A required rate stops the inbound shipment from closing

Warehouse staff cannot complete the shipment until they enter a quantity for every rate that requires one. Set entry to required only for accessorial work your team needs to account for on every shipment.

How to Export Accessorial Quantities from an Inbound Shipment in 3PL Billing Alpha

Exporting shows every individual quantity alongside the person who entered it, which is useful for reviewing a charge with a client or checking your team's entries.

  1. Open the inbound shipment and go to the Accessorial charges tab.
  2. Select Export.
