How to Recalculate Charges in 3PL Billing Alpha

Recalculating charges reruns closed events through the rate engine using your current rate setup. Use it when you find a billing mistake after events have already closed, such as a rate you forgot to add or an amount that was wrong. ShipHero regenerates the charges so you can invoice the corrected amounts.

When to Recalculate Charges in 3PL Billing Alpha

Recalculation is the right tool when the rate setup was wrong at the time the events closed. Common cases:

  • You forgot to assign a rate to a client, so ShipHero never created the charge.
  • A rate amount was wrong, so ShipHero billed the wrong figure.
  • A rate was set up with the wrong configuration and produced charges you cannot correct one at a time.

Recalculation covers Inbound, Wholesale Order, Recurring Flat Fee, and Recurring Storage events. It does not recalculate ad hoc charges.

Recalculate before you mark charges as Invoiced

Charges in a Ready to Invoice status are replaced cleanly. Charges that are already invoiced or on a draft invoice are protected from deletion, which makes them harder to correct.

How to Recalculate Charges by Event, Date, or Client

The Recalculate charges button on the Charges page reruns closed events through the rate engine. You can rerun specific events by event ID, or rerun all events in a date range for one client.

  1. Go to Billing (Alpha) > Charges and select Recalculate charges.
  2. Select the By event tab.
  3. In the Transaction type field, select the type of event you are rerunning: Inbound, Wholesale Order, Recurring Flat Fee, or Recurring Storage. Ad hoc charges are not an option.
  4. Enter the event ID.
  5. Select Recalculate. ShipHero reruns the event through the rate engine and regenerates the charges.

  1. Go to Billing (Alpha) > Charges and select Recalculate charges.
  2. Select the By date range tab.
  3. Enter the Start date and End date.

  5. In the Transaction type field, select one or more types: Inbound, Wholesale Order, Recurring Flat Fee, or Recurring Storage. Ad hoc charges are not an option.
  6. Select Recalculate. ShipHero reruns all matching events in the date range and regenerates the charges.

After you recalculate, go to Billing (Alpha) > Charges and confirm the new charges are correct. Then invoice them by following How to Manage Charges and Invoicing in 3PL Billing Alpha.

Recalculation is built for bulk corrections by date range. To correct one event, use the By event tab and enter its event ID.
