A rate set to the inbound shipments transaction type bills when an inbound shipment closes. Wholesale orders are also a transaction type in 3PL Billing Alpha. What ShipHero counts on that shipment depends on the rate type you pair it with.

What Triggers an Inbound Shipment Charge
The charge is created when the inbound shipment closes. Where the quantity comes from depends on the rate type.
| Rate type | Where the quantity comes from |
|---|---|
| Accessorial | Someone on your team enters it on the desktop or ShipHero Mobile while they work the shipment. See How to Add Accessorial Charges to an Inbound Shipment in 3PL Billing Alpha. |
| Transactional | ShipHero creates the charge automatically when the shipment closes. What it counts depends on the option you choose in the transactional billing options below. |
Inbound Shipment Transactional Billing Options
When you pair inbound shipments with a transactional rate, choose what ShipHero counts.
| Option | What ShipHero counts |
|---|---|
| Pallet LPNs | Bills per pallet LPN on the shipment. An LPN is the barcode ShipHero assigns to a container to track it through the warehouse. |
| Box LPNs | Bills per box LPN on the shipment. This option adds a counting choice, described below. |
| Individual unique events | Bills the rate once each time an inbound shipment closes, no matter how many pallets or boxes it holds. One closed shipment is one event, so ShipHero bills once per inbound shipment rather than per PO. |
Inbound Shipment Box LPN Counting Options
A box LPN can sit on its own or be nested on another box LPN or a pallet LPN. When you bill by box LPNs, tell ShipHero which of those to count.
| Option | What ShipHero counts |
|---|---|
| Nested | Only box LPNs that are nested on another box LPN or a pallet LPN. |
| Unnested | Only loose box LPNs that are not nested on anything. |
| Combined | Every box LPN on the shipment, nested and unnested together. |
