A rate set to the recurring transaction type bills on a schedule you set, not on a warehouse event like a closed inbound shipment. Use it to replicate a charge your legacy billing system already handles on a set cadence, such as a monthly admin fee or an account management charge.

What Triggers a Recurring Charge in 3PL Billing Alpha
A recurring charge does not wait for a warehouse event. Once you assign a recurring rate to a client, ShipHero generates the charge automatically every time the schedule you set is reached, with no receiving, shipping, or other warehouse activity required.
Recurring rates can use the Flat fee or Storage rate type, not transactional or accessorial. A Flat fee rate bills the same set amount every time the schedule fires. A Storage rate bills based on the number of LPNs in storage. For recurring storage details, see How to Set Up Recurring Storage Billing in 3PL Billing Alpha.
Setting the Recurring Billing Frequency and Charge Day in 3PL Billing Alpha
When you create a rate or template with the recurring transaction type and the Flat fee rate type, a billing and scheduling step asks how often the charge fires and on which day. Flat fee rates offer two frequencies, and there is no Daily option. Storage rates have their own frequency options.
- Weekly: ShipHero generates the charge on a day of the week you choose.
- Monthly: ShipHero generates the charge on a day of the month you choose, from day 1 to day 28, or on the last day of the month.
How a Recurring Rate Applies Across Warehouses in 3PL Billing Alpha
Assigning a recurring rate to a client works the same way as any other rate: when you create a client rate or assign a billing template, you choose a client and a warehouse. For recurring rates, the warehouse you choose changes how many times the client gets charged.
All Warehouses charges a client once per warehouse
When you assign a recurring rate to All Warehouses, ShipHero generates a separate charge for every warehouse that client has. A client with two warehouses is charged twice on the same schedule, once for each warehouse. To charge a client only once, assign the recurring rate to a single warehouse instead of All Warehouses.
