How to Set Up FedEx International Connect (FIC)
FedEx FIC rates work similarly to UPS Mail Innovations. Instead of receiving a quote from the carrier's API, rates are uploaded to the ShipHero database and used to generate labels for these shipping methods.
Note
Unlike traditional carrier connections, FIC rates are not set up through the Shipping Carriers page — setup requires assistance from ShipHero Support. Follow the steps below.
To connect FedEx International Connect to your ShipHero account:
-
Request the rate file with zones from FedEx and save it as a CSV file.
Below is an example of the FedEx rate file format.
- Share your FedEx API key with the ShipHero team via a secure method such as 1Password. This key is required to complete the setup.
- Contact ShipHero Support with the requested files so they can upload the rates for you.
Important Notes About Your FIC Rate CSV File
- This is not a patch operation; existing rates will be removed if not included in the upload file.
- The file must be in CSV format.
- The file should not contain repeated lines or invalid characters.
Commercial Invoice Options
By default, the following information is used for commercial invoices when shipping with FedEx:
- Shipping costs are not included in the customs value.
- No separate freight charge appears on the commercial invoice.
- The subtotal equals the total customs value.
- The quoted label cost appears on the printed label.
To include shipping costs in the customs information, contact ShipHero Support to have this setting enabled for your account. With this setting enabled:
- The order's shipping price is added to the total customs value.
- The shipping price is listed as a separate freight charge on the commercial invoice.
- The subtotal is set to the order subtotal, excluding shipping.
- The label cost on the printed label reflects the order subtotal instead of the FedEx-quoted cost.
