The manual order feature lets you create and ship orders directly in ShipHero without a store integration. Common reasons to create one include:
- Replacements: Send a replacement for a lost, damaged, or incorrect order. See also the Reship Feature for existing orders.
- Special Requests: Rush orders, sales team samples, or items requiring special handling.
- Data Corrections: Bypass import errors and get an order moving manually.
- Internal Use: Track product movement for quality control or inter-department transfers. See also the Transfer Order Feature for multi-warehouse accounts.
Step-by-Step Instructions
These steps cover creating a single manual order. To create multiple orders or an order with many line items, use the CSV Order Upload instead.
Note for 3PLs: All orders must be created at the client account level. To access the Create an Order page, you must be logged in to the client account. See how to switch between client accounts.
- Open the Orders > Create an Order page.
- Select Customer Order as the order type.
- Multi-Warehouse Accounts only: Select the warehouse for this order. MWA Rules may overwrite this selection. If your rules use tags as triggers, add the tag after the order is created and reprocess it. See How to Use MWA Rules.
- Fill in the Shipping Address fields:
- Order Number (optional) — auto-generated if left blank. The prefix is set by the Warehouse Profile selected in the next step.
- First Name / Last Name
- Company (optional)
- Address Information
- Email and Phone Number
- Select a Profile and Shipping Options for the order.
- Use the search bar to find and add products by SKU. Adjust the Quantity and Price as needed. On Hand and Available quantities are shown for reference but do not limit what you can add.
- Click Save Order. You will be taken to the order's details page.
What's Next?
After saving, ShipHero runs the same back-end processes as an imported order — Automation Rules, Address Validation, Order Allocation, and more. Allow these to complete before making changes, and refresh the page to see updates as they happen.
Things to Consider
- ShipHero does not include a payment processor. If you need to collect payment for a manual order, do so outside of ShipHero.
- Multi-Warehouse Accounts: MWA Rules may overwrite the warehouse selected during order creation.
- Tags must be added after the order is created.
- Automation Rules triggered by tags will not run at order creation. If you rely on tag-based rules, create an Automation Rule to add the tags and position it at the top of your rule list — or make the necessary changes to the order manually.
- MWA Rules triggered by tags will only run after the tag is added and the order is reprocessed.
