Unreceiving removes inventory that was received onto an inbound shipment in error, such as a miscount or a SKU received to the wrong container. You do this from the Edit option in the ShipHero Mobile app, where you scan the exact place the inventory landed before adjusting the quantity.
Before You Begin
Know where the inventory was received before you start: the location, the carton LPN, or the pallet LPN. An LPN (License Plate Number) is a barcode ShipHero assigns to a box, carton, or pallet so it can be tracked as one container. ShipHero needs that scan to remove the inventory from the right place.
For the full inbound receiving workflow, see How to Receive Inbound Shipments Using LPNs in ShipHero Mobile and How to Receive Inbound Shipments to a Location in ShipHero.

How Unreceiving Works in ShipHero Mobile
The same SKU can sit in more than one carton, pallet, or location at the same time. Scanning tells ShipHero which of those to pull the inventory back out of. Without that scan, ShipHero cannot tell which container you mean.
What you scan depends on how the inventory was received.
| The inventory was received to | Scan this |
|---|---|
| A location | The location where the inventory was received. |
| A box or carton LPN | The carton LPN that contains the inventory. |
| A pallet with cartons nested on it | The individual carton LPN that holds the SKU. Scanning the pallet LPN only lets you remove cartons from the pallet. |
| A pallet, with SKUs loose on it | The pallet LPN. |
How to Unreceive Inventory in ShipHero Mobile
Use these steps for inventory received to a location, to a carton LPN, or directly onto a pallet. For cartons nested on a pallet, see Unreceiving Inventory from Pallets with Nested Cartons in ShipHero.
- Open the inbound shipment in the ShipHero Mobile app and select Edit.
- Scan the location or LPN where the inventory was received.
- Select the SKU you want to update.
- Reduce the received quantity to the correct amount.
- Tap Save. The quantity you removed is unreceived from the inbound shipment.

Unreceiving a SKU's Full Quantity in ShipHero Mobile
To unreceive everything for a SKU at once, tap the X next to it on the Edit screen instead of typing a new number. Type the quantity manually when you only need to remove part of it.
Nothing is unreceived until you tap Save. If you tap the X by mistake, tap Cancel and the quantity returns to what it was.
Unreceiving Inventory from Pallets with Nested Cartons in ShipHero
Important
There are two different X buttons in the Edit flow. The X next to a SKU unreceives that SKU's full quantity. The X on a carton in the pallet view only detaches the carton from the pallet so it can be reassigned, and does not unreceive anything inside it.
When cartons are nested on a pallet, scanning the pallet LPN only lets you remove cartons from the pallet. To unreceive a SKU inside a carton:
- Open the inbound shipment in the ShipHero Mobile app and select Edit.
- Scan the individual carton LPN that holds the SKU.
- Select the SKU you want to update.
- Reduce the received quantity to the correct amount.
- Tap Save.

Where to Unreceive Inventory in ShipHero
Unreceive inventory from the ShipHero Mobile app rather than from the purchase order page. The purchase order page does not show which LPNs hold the received inventory. When the same SKU sits in more than one carton, pallet, or location, reducing the quantity there can remove inventory from the wrong place and leave your counts inaccurate.
